He has never been pretty damned good he has had a couple of good games, but overall he has been far below average..... He should have to beat out those mediocre guards....make him work for it......and earn it..... If he can't beat them out, he is not good enough anyway. DD
"It’s an eye for talent, certainly, but it’s also an organization-wide commitment to playing youngsters even when it looks awful. It’s a commitment from coaches willing to stay late and work with prospects who might never make an impact or even a roster." https://theathletic.com/3095901/202...cavaliers-are-a-team-to-be-feared-across-nba/ There's no substitute for in game experience.
EGo is clearly the better SG. And both Mathews and Jaygup have outperformed him recently and more consistently. Even Sengun who does not play guard but is more efficient and much better facillitator and defender deserves start ahead of Green. Green would actually benefit coming off the bench so he can dominate ball with 2nd unit, like all the Green Only Fans have been openly clamoring for.
Not upset at all lol. Just an observation. Disappointed yes. I don’t need him to be a primary ball handler but he needs to be more involved in the offense to be a playmaker and offensive threat. He needs to put his signature on these games and impose his will and right now it’s not happening. I agree with you that his shooting and turnovers have limited him and right now he’s not good but he’s not as good as he can be if given free reign to be a major focal point of the offense as he was with Ignite. Dynamic combo guards that need the ball usually don’t play well with each other. That’s why Heild was benched because he couldn’t start with Fox. Garland is better playing without Sexton. Kobe had Fisher a tough defender and shooter. Harden and Westbrook didn’t exactly work out either. But who knows? Green might just be the next jordan Clarkson or Collin Sexton. Hopefully not. When will we see Green unleashed?
Jalen Green is statistically the worst player on this team out of anyone getting any significant playing time. That doesn't mean a ton long term but he's been awful. lowest W/S Per 48 on the team, worst BPM, lowest VORP. Don't let his draft position fool you. He's been awful. A lot of this has to do with how he's being used and benching him definitely isn't the answer, he needs a ton of run and he needs to have plays ran for him regularly. He's standing in the corner while Tate, KPJ and Wood refuse to look his direction. They all want their's. This team is not cohesive and he's getting the short end of it because he's not being selfish enough. A bunch of guys who aren't playing for each other. That happens with youth and it happens with guys who are trying to make a name for themself. The Rockets have Eric Gordon, Theis, David Nwaba and DJ Augustin who don't fall into those categories. This is a very bleak team that will be laughed at down the line if this core ever amounts to anything.
If Green was drafted #22 instead of #2, how would he have been treated? He would be viewed as just another rookie that needed to be developed. Probably would have been sent down to the g-league for PT, or come off the bench for limited minutes. Sometimes the draft position of a guy might have skewed how a rookie is normally developed and that might not be a good thing.
Not until he gets good enough to deserve that. Right now you'd be just hurting the team even more, which is fine, and killing his confidence by trying to get him to do something he's terrible at, which is not fine.
EG is better but hes in the starting lineup tho. They been better recently ill give you that but let's not act like they haven't had their slumps. I wouldn't want to go back to the double big lineup to start the game. But right now there is a chemistry problem, Jalen just doesn't fit the style of a spot up shooter. And we are forcing him to be that.. We saw what Jalen can do in the summer league, what we are doing right now isn't his style of play.
Okay, well, that's just not realistic, Jalen Green has been the most detrimental player to the team on the roster while on the court, basically all of the backups would be better right now
The stretch in the beginning of the season for cade was one of the worst ever... but no one said bench him. I rather Jalen learn from his mistakes this season. This season is about development. We are an awful team to even do anything this year. I would understand if we were fighting for a playoff spot, but this is getting ridiculous. You guys are quiet when Jalen plays good but only want to come out when he struggles... Silas still had faith in KPJ even though he was god awful. He seems like he's coming along now... hopefully.
He doesn't get enough touches... and when he does we put him in a bad position to be successful at times... Silas doesn't understand the flow of the game. There are many times are player go cold. Like I said we are making Jalen play as a catch and shooter type of player.
Green is so inefficient on offense and poor on defense that he has the HIGHEST net negative when on the court. And all the nonsense narratives that KPJ is holding him back or making him a spot up shooter or Wood is lazy on defense or EGo is blocking Green's development and thus responsible for Green's god awful performance is BULL SHYTE LIES. The truth is Green is killing the flow, production and chemistry of starting 5 AND 4Q closing lineups. Need to keep developing Green but not to extent of killing the morale, culture and execution of entire team.
Are we going to act like before these stretch of games KPJ wasn't horrible? There were many times this season we looked better without KPJ... and keep in mind KPJ has the ball all the time. Jalen has to find his flow, and when he does we ignore him.
When Jalen had his stretch of good games he had the 5th most touches in the team. That's insane! I don't understand what culture we have here? Did we forget the KPJ and Wood incident? It's clear as day that Silas has favorites and KPJ is his number 1..
