that or Stone will run out of time like last year and take a literal crap offer at the last minute. Yay now we get the choice between the Brooklyn pick, the Heat pick, or the Suns pick. Winner winner chicken dinner ;)

robinson is 28 and signed for 3 more years at EG money. Why does he make sense for a rebuilding Rockets team? No.

Since when does a top 5 pick mean anything on its own?

Would you like to gonand look at all the number 5 picks from the last decade and then say we can count on the number 5 pick to be a cornerstone piece?

We don't even know if the #2 from this draft is a cornerstone pick yet for some reason we should be done prioritizing picks?

There is nothing to say that Durrant and Hardens effectiveness will be done in 2 years.

Since when has an expiring contract brought back something of merit?

I'll never understand the mentality that a rebuilding team has to be filled with guys in their early-20s. Every rebuilding team needs vets to balance it out.

Now, with Wood, I get the argument -- there's a good chance he'll leave in free agency. But Robinson's locked up for a while.

Yikes. I'd like to see that pick realized sooner than that.

Herro is literally the only asset that Miami can offer for Wood that would be somewhat fair. They aren’t going to do that. If Stone trades Wood to Miami for less than Herro he deserves to be fired especially after the Oladipo debacle. Stone only has the job because of the fact that he ensured Tilman got to buy the team. It’s hard to tell if he’s actually good at this.

On the one side, his greatest skill don't go away with age. On the other side, his shooting %s has gone down since that miraculous bubble season. Great shooters can always bounce back but even his FT% has taken a significant dip.

He’s older than Wood and worse than him at every single aspect of playing basketball. Only thing he does better than Wood is podcast. Dude sucks just like every other shooting specialist who gets a big contract

The 2028 pick unprotected works for me.

The Rockets are increasingly comfortable with the offers on Oladipo in the marketplace, which include young players and first-round pick combinations that the franchise believes are suitable returns to make a deal, sources said.

The Rockets have conveyed a confidence they will receive a first-round pick in exchange for Eric Gordon before the Feb. 10 buzzer.

We also have Garry Bird who offers pretty much the same plusses but is also a pretty decent defender on a much MUCH cheaper contract. I wouldn't be opposed to getting Duncan Robinson if it means we can ship him to another team for a 1st rounder.

His contract stinks and Miami should have to add value for someone to take it. It’s Ryan Anderson level bad.

Herro is pointless, mediocre efficiency on scoring, mediocre at everything else. Someone is going to overpay him just based on the volume of shots, I hope it's not us.

They need to trade him for picks and send those picks to us. KPJ, Green and Christopher are all going to be better than Herro too.

Actually, Garry Bird is one of the reasons a Duncan Robinson trade is intriguing to me. We'd basically always have a sharp shooting forward on the floor for the next 4 - 5 years. Matched with Sengun as a point-forward, that'll create some great spacing.

Why is this a dream scenario?

What has Williams done to be worth multiple FRP's?
If you are just starting a rebuild you don't need expensive veterans. They are progress stoppers and will be too old and more expensive when the team is competitive.

A rebuild usually takes 3-5 years so how does a guy like Robinson help us?

He would easily be the best player on the Rockets right now. You must not be watching him this year. There’s no chance Miami trades him for Wood and there’s nothing else they can add.

I’m hoping the Miami smoke is just a Rockets smokescreen to drive up the interest for one of Miami’s eastern conference rivals.

I understood the chance Stone took with Oladipo and I understood that it backfired and he ultimately got less out of that deal than expected… but you can’t miss on Wood.

This is a valid point. Wood represents, by far, the best trade chip we'll probably have for a while outside of our draft capital. If we trade him, we have to nail it.
