I think this whole franchise centerpiece is bullshit propaganda. The only possibilities out there are Kyrie, Dame and maybe Zion. I can’t imagine the Rockets are interested in the first 2, unless Wall is involved which is a real stretch. Zion would be the only possibility. I would be willing to go for it as long as our 2022 pick, Jalen Green, Sengun, and KPJ are not involved. Get 2 firsts for Gordon and Wood and trade any or all of Jaygup, Tate, Brooks, Garuba and 3 non-rocket 1sts for Zion. A lineup next year of:

    KPJ
    Green\
    2022 frp
    Sengun
    Zion

Gets you in the playoffs and sets you up for years to come. We would still have a boatload of picks and other assets to go for another all-star in 2023 or 2024.

Not sure if you are being sarcastic.

#1 obviously. Brooklyn was one of the destinations he said he wanted.

Not when we traded Harden. When we traded FOR him. He wasn’t disgruntled. His team was coming off a great playoff run. He was obviously young. Etc.

    Sorry, I misread your post.

Harden wasn't OKC's franchise player at that time. He's not even a starter. I think Morey once said that even he was surprised how good Harden had become.

This is the thing. If you see a young and promising player who MIGHT become a first tier superstar, you go for it. But it is of course a gamble when you give up your own promising assets to get him.

Getting Harden was a once in a life time luck for Morey. On the flip side, if you trade your promising young player for another promising young guy and the guy you trade away turns out to be a top 5 player, you will be looking like OKC.

Well……Reading the title I assume every general manager in the league is doing this every day.

Morey doesnt want to trade Simmons, not in this way.

I see this more as a way to take advantage of this Morey FUBAR and steal a young All Star for peanuts.

Laughing at people who are already writing Green off. He may or may not develop into a great player, but it’s not even halfway through his rookie season and the experts are calling his career.

    come on man!

Tbh having multiple active alt accounts on a sports forum should be enough to get you on an FBI watch list.

I just not convinced Simmons is the player to go for if we're going to target a centerpiece through trade.

Acquiring Simmons automatically makes Green better IMO.

Green is best in transition and early offense, both Simmons specialties.

Simmons also improves overall defense, a Green obvious weakness.

And Simmons would also improve TOV and rebounding, a glaring Rockets weakness.

Adding Simmons will also not improve team THIS season due to rust and no chemistry with team, allowing team to continue to tank.

And Simmons acquisition doesn't just add much needed length, IQ, playmaking, defense, rebounding, disruptions AND consistency but most importantly adds a legit All Star in his prime, which Rockets sorely lacks.

Lol draft is always an inexact science Mobley is even outplaying Cade Cunningham right now who would have predicted that?

We also dont know how the future will unfold who would have thought Harden would have a better career and still be a star when Blake Griffin gets washed? His rookie year Blake had 22 pts 12 rebs and 3 ast , Harden had 9 and 2 his rookie year. If a scout picked Harden before Blake and got fired how smart would that scout look now?

It aint even half a season in their rookie years lmao gimme a break.

I predicted it, along with more than a few others on this very board.

So did most of the draft analysts until Rockets FO and KPJ started telegraphing that Green was their preference.

A significant number of Rockets scouts also ranked Mobley higher than Green, per both Feigan AND Iko.

I think the debate is over and it's pretty clear the Rockets f***ed up with Mobley. Not so much that they made the wrong pick but the process, especially not bring Mobley in, was a mess.

I'm a hard no on Zion. Dude is one or two more injuries away from being done. That heavy of a body with that much reliance on athleticism was never going to work out. Been saying it since his college days. I was one of a few that were saying they'd take Ja Morant over Zion.

If someone gives up the farm for him, they'll regret it.

If Zion is involved and the missing piece to make the trade work is KPJ. He is definitely gone.

I love KPJ, but to get Zion? Yeah, I'd have no problem trading him.

Point taken but I guess my concern is Brooklyn didn’t want to expose their team so why would we.

The bigger thing is franchise killer to me.

Great baller just not a team guy.
