For the pick, I don't mind it. Silas/Stone trying to bench Russ or sitting him out like Wall would be popcorn worthy.

    Their contracts are so similar.

    2021-22
    Westbrook - $44.2 mil
    Wall - $44.3 mil

2022-23 (final year - both guys have player options)
    Westbrook - $47 mil
    Wall - $47.36 mil

Edit: JR beat me to it.

As @J.R. just pointed out, it's as near as exactly the same as Wall's deal as you can get. Both have 15% trade kickers. I posted about this earlier over in Dish, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. It's doing LA a huge favor, one that should be worth sending major incentives, future draft picks and swaps, to the Rockets to close the deal. Wall is healthy, he has been practicing and working out with the team, and at this point in their careers, John would be a BIG upgrade over Russell.

Heck, toss in Wood for expiring contracts, and/or contracts that would be easier to deal - more reason to send us draft picks/swaps. Wood would do wonders for their depth, especially with Davis being injured. I can't imagine Westbrook being willing to just sit for the rest of this season and next season, unlike Wall. I have a strong hunch that he'd take a buyout.

Of course the coach doesn't have to play him and the Union won't really be able to do anything about it other than shame the Rockets publicly which is what I think Westbrook would do.

For an organization that is trying to repair player relations I can't see them wanting to deal with that.

Westbrook sucks but there are a lot of people and players that respect him. If the Rockets are perceived as doing him dirty (Which I'm sure Westbrook would try to push) I don't believe that would be a good look.

But I can see why Rich Paul would want to get this done to get his client Wall into a better situation.
If there was some type of buyout or moving Russ to a third team...But I don't see them bringing him here and just asking him to stay at home...

Why would the Rocket org be the bad guy? We r helping Wall get a chance to assist Lebron win a ring. It's not our fault James is tossing wb away.

Because that 2027 pick is likely golden.

Whether it's Wall or Russ, I see us dealing that contract w/picks at next years deadline.

No a poster said WB will push that we might b doing him dirty by "trading for him and making him sit like Wall".

My thought process is LeGM is the one who toss WB like a used tissue, why would our org look bad for helping Wall?
