If progressives are not satisfied with Biden they will never be satisfied with any President, they will never understand the power of the President and how he can't just snap his fingers and get bills passed. Do you think Sanders could have done more? Why are you so angry?
No I don't think Sanders could do more. My issue really isn't with Biden. It's more about the political will power of most of the Senate and the House on the Democrat side. The problem is much larger than one man. It's an entire system that favors politicians accepting the status quo due to things like the revolving door and stock trading. If you want me to be frank, I honestly lost all hope. I'm content with understanding that these trends will continue until a violent flashpoint maybe 2 decades from now. Hopefully I'm in Canada by then. Things like a m4a will never happen. There just isn't the political will power to do it with all the incentive systems that are deeply rooted into our political system(revolving door, money in politics, insider trading etc)
I agree with all of this, but I don't remember him campaigning as a transformational president at all. And then once the election was over the name FDR started being thrown around, surprised the **** out of me and I initially thought it was a mistake but if that how he wants to govern so be it I just think he was not exactly truthful with how he would govern. I thought it was too much at 1st but I have come around to it and do not think it will be that detrimental
So why did you respond to me in a thread about Biden. Why do you always try and steer the conversation to something you want to b**** about, make a thread about the political will of Democrats that don't agree with you. I don't care about you being frank, I have heard it all before and wish you would stop derailing threads with the same tired rhetoric, everybody knows how you feel about democrats. You have a revolution fetish, that's your end game for everything, at least you have now pushed this violent flash point forward by 2 decades. So you should be happy with Biden, you were predicting this violent flash point during this presidency and Biden is doing things that make most of his caucus nervous, and you still are b****ing. I don't why you think moving to Canada is the answer but more power to you and why are you waiting?
I understand the sense of frustration and fatalism. It's hard to look at how much infrastructure, both physical and social, that Singapore and the Netherlands have built and then look at how far we are behind that and not get frustrated. It's not all dark or doomed. A lot of progress has been made even in just the last year. If we look at recent history we saw the ACA passed which is now more popular than ever. The Bipartisan infrastructure bill will do much for everyone in this country but for things like clean water, transit, expanded internet and climate change resiliency those will overwhelmingly benefit the bottom half of this country. Finally while the failure of new national voting legislation is disheartening we can't forget that we had record turnout the last election even with COVID restrictions and Red states like TX throwing up road blocks. Singapore has done amazing things but it's a small country with a government and culture that pushes conformity. While those on the Left might like that Singapore is leading on developing new green technology, has a strong social safety net and fantastic infrastructure they might not like how they suppress minority voices and jail political opponents. Our country is big complicated and messy. Major change is never easy and usually only accomplished because of existential crisis. I fully supported Biden but I never expected him to get most of his agenda passed and to be blunt anyone who did was being naïve. What he's gotten done so far isn't a sign of failure it's just a reality of the difficulty of our system and where the country is at.
He made several speeches including his acceptance speech that talked about major change. Also near the end of the primaries he agreed to work with Sanders on several major policy changes that were far closer to what Sanders wanted than what Klobuchar or the other moderates wanted.
You might have a self-awareness issue. Anyways me predicting current trends aren't sustainable doesn't mean I want the country to reach a eventual violent flashpoint. I don't know why you would assume that just because it's a prediction. Do you want to the Rockets to suck if you predict they will be way below .500 next year? Such a odd takeaway. You can disagree with my prediction but why the placing of words in my mouth? I'm sincerely trying to be cordial with you but you make it difficult. Take @rocketsjudoka as a example of how to handle disagreement.
Ok but major changes is vague political speech, major changes could just be reversing what Trump did. He never talked about spending this amount of money on societal change, which is what I am talking about.
Predicting current trends aren't sustainable is a far cry from a violent flashpoint and you will not even admit those trends have changed since Biden has been elected. I don't care about you being cordial I just wish you stop derailing threads trying to take conversations in the direction you want to go. That's not cordial. Anyway I am done with you, I know your bullshit. Not gonna take the bait.
I really was never trying to "bait" you. I think we just disagree. I'm just trying to understand why you would ask someone why they are so angry when they post in such a confrontational way. I just think it shows a lack of self-awareness. And quite frankly you kinda do this often with many other posters over even trivial disagreements. Maybe it's your baseline posting style kinda like resting b**** face.
LOL, you ready are drowning in the Kool-Aid. Typical Trump type response. He would love a gullible guy like you to donate to his next campaign. The Grift will continue, as long as he cons guys like you.
Were Biden's Election Legitimacy Remarks Dangerous or Just Stupid? They were a bit of both. https://reason.com/2022/01/20/were-bidens-election-legitimacy-remarks-dangerous-or-just-stupid/ excerpt: . . . Biden's remarks about the legitimacy of elections were certainly stupid, but they're also dangerous. And the moment was significant enough that the president himself ought to clarify—immediately—what he meant to say. Because even if you're going to give Biden the benefit of the doubt, there's a real problem. "As I read the remarks, and particularly how Biden responded to the second set of questions, it appears that he has in mind a concern about election subversion, not voter suppression, and how the failure to pass the Democrats' combined voting bill would make it easier to engage in election subversion," Rick Hasen, a professor of political science at the University of California, Irvine, notes at the Election Law Blog. Even so, Hasen adds, "casting doubt on the legitimacy of the election is a highly charged statement to make, and such language should be reserved for a system that is so repressive that it would be considered a fundamentally unfair election. I don't think that's what we will see in the 2022 midterms, whether or not Democrats pass any new voting bills." Whether intentional or not, Biden's comments also fit into a worrying trend of Democrats declaring elections to be illegitimate simply because they were held under a set of (legitimately passed) state laws that Democrats disagree with. That's what happened in 2018 when Georgia gubernatorial hopeful Stacey Abrams refused to acknowledge the legitimacy of her close loss to Gov. Brian Kemp, a Republican. more at the link
I don't appreciate that implication. I support legal immigration and i will leave it at that. Living in Boston is not the same as living in south Texas in that regard.
You have no thoughts on Brandon? You voted for the senile b*stard? I told you before, howling at the moon about the Orange man is not going to solve your problems. The little bubble here in this forum that is protecting you from reality is not enough, sooner than later, your security teddy bear will be torn and tattered, and you have to venture out in the real world to get another one. And just like that scene from “ Blast from the Past”, when Christopher Walken got out of his bomb shelters to get supplies and encountered the horrors of modern days LA. I pity you for contracting TDS because there is no cures for it. If it makes you feel any better and safer, go right ahead and wail away. Bwahahaha! BTW- Trump is not my guy, my governor is. DeSantis 2024
what, no golf ! as compared to Orange hair, as POTUS, Trump has spent 307 days, almost a full year, golfing during his presidency. The total is likely to be the most golf outings of any president in history. Additionally, Trump is likely to be collectively viewed by historians as one of the worst presidents in American history.
