Still my favorite player of all time. His athleticism, his play style, his adaptations, his competitiveness, and his humor are top notch. The absolute best athlete media personality (only real rival is Ali, but Ali was never in the spot that Barkley is of having to consistently perform on a regular show).
Its still impressive that Chuck picked up Shaq and slammed him during that fight. Chuck was an incredible passer in the post as great as Hakeem was he was prone to turnovers especially against the Sonics zone. Chuck would just pick it apart and he got in Shawn Kemp's head so much that he was never the same.
Funny thing is... the Charles-Clyde-Dream Rockets were no where near as ancient as this year's Lakers.
The guy was such a freaking stud. Give him Scottie Pippen and Phil Jackson and we might look at things way differently.
think if he got to the '93 finals and pippen and grant were injured and they won. then, after blowing a huge series lead against the rockets the next year, jordan returns and signs with the suns and they run roughshod over the league and win a couple more rings before jordan retires. that's basically steph curry's career at this point and barkley wouldn't be any better or worse than he was, but he'd have 3 rings. sports is weird.
A typical British game. Stubborn, undersized, revolutionary 6'5 Power Forward. MI6 would be proud but he does not drink tea though.
Glad to see him ranked at #22. I feel like he is underrated by the general fan because they just see a fat dude making jokes on inside the NBA.
Gonna be honest, I believe he should be much higher than 22, near top 10/15. The only knock against him is defense and no rings, but the last one is more indicative of the teams he played on.
