He cared about touching the world apparently.

What does anyone do for the Uyghurs? Most people who mention them because they want China to look bad. If not for that, they would dead silent.

Most of the people who shed crocodile tears for the Uyghurs are the same people who didn't care that hundreds of thousands iraqi children died during the war on Iraq, didn't care about the thousands dying and be persecuted in central america instead more concerned about them trying to get passed our border.

So yeah, give me a break

At the end of the day, there is bad stuff going on in almost every country. Americans aren't even willing to take care of our own and our adjacent neighbors. Mexico had drug cartels running their country with lots of people living in fear. These cartels are producing drug that are killing millions in the US. Do we do anything about it? Not really. We aren't going to boycott Mexico. We don't send troops.

Do you think we are going to start a war with another super power over some random people that most people have never heard of? It's sad because these people are getting screwed over in a culture war, but there really isn't anything we can do about it unless we are willing to wage a war of some type.

Let's tackle police and government abuse in this country first.

What does it mean to "care about" something in this thread? Does a person need to set himself on fire in protest to demonstrate he cares? There's a lot of broad brush painting in this thread.

Yall understand we will never fix ourselves, right? So, given your priorities, we will never help anyone else either.

I think there is a line, combination of how justified, impactful and costly to ourselves of an action would be. There is no precise formula to when it makes sense for us and that we have enough higher moral ground ourselves to take the action.

We'll know it when we see it, and certain things will be near universal for us to want to do something considering all the factors. But there is no precise way of judging that line.

I get you. Just giving you a hard time. This thread has a weird polarization between assertions that if you don't drop all other business to solve a problem it means you don't care at all about it, and assertions that we don't have the capacity to do anything. Isn't there some space to care about an issue somewhat and to take some measures to fix problems without over-investing yourself?

judging by how much the City has spent on helping the homeless, you can't be more wrong.
