I say that because it's objectively true..... the reason you get upset about that is because you have an irrational emotional attachment to that individual player..... he's your "hero" You don't speed development by ignoring flaws or by blaming them on others.... that's just weird cult BS. If someone says something about another player or other players, you take it as a slight to your hero....I mention the two guys who had really awesome efficient scoring games but not Green who had a decent but not really noteworthy performance overall in that game and it has to be an insult to your guy..... that's cult BS
8th mid way through the season by a guy who's saying he's going to lead the league in scoring. Where from that did you get "has a loooong way to climb?" You're literally disagreeing with the thing you're trying to use to prove your point, you do realise that, right?
"I mention the two guys who had really awesome efficient scoring games but not Green who had a decent but not really noteworthy performance overall in that game and it has to be an insult to your guy..... that's cult BS" Porter 6-12 .500 Mathews 4-6 .667 Green 6-10 .600 Gordon 6-11 .545 Ah yes mathews and Porter were efficient and carry us while green has decent but not noteworthy Performance (no mention of the game saving rebound) And no mention of Gordon. But I'm the raving green fan and u are a beacon of fair biasness. Awesome efficient scoring game vs decent ? Like look at the stats before posting bullsht. U aren't grading players on the same scale and it shows. Folks like me who call fans on this r labeled green only fans.
It's crazy, the post he's quoting to "prove" Green won't be a star is a guy saying he will be. Mental.
Its some Twilight Zone stuff for real .. Its like if I slipped into another universe and those guys who ridiculed, mocked and slandered Jalen are now saying they were "sold on him" as their guy? What is going on!?
haha, it’s not a "post" It’s Power Rankings on espn.com by one of the most pro-Green draft analysts. And he has him #8 in his draft class. Since #8 is lower than #1-#7 what that means is that he’s behind at this point, halfway through the season. So what I wrote is that his trajectory is pointing downward. Going from #2 to #8 is what that means. However the potential is there, as per Schmitz, and I concur. The potential will be there for years. Remember Bruno Caboclo’s potential got teams hooked-in for years. The potential has not changed, but right know his development trajectory is not promising, is what these Rankings show.
Sure is interesting that you left off how many points were scored in a post about scoring.....wonder why that is? KPJ scored 23 points on 12 shots for a .786 TS% and an offensive rating of 120 Mathews scored 17 points on 6 shots for a 1.037 TS% and an offensive rating of 202 Green scored 15 points on 10 shots for a .689 TS% and an offensive rating of 111 2 of those are much more notable than the one. The fact that you think your hero needs to be constantly praised any time someone talks about the team is cult BS.
I think most rational analysts realized that Green was going to be a long term project.....the problem is that so many were fooled by flash into thinking that he'd be an instant success. Jalen Green is basically a freshly quarried stone of high quality. Some see that and think it'll become the next Michelangelo's David, some see it and point out that it's still just a plain mass of stone. It is of the type and quality of stone that could be made into a top tier sculpture.....but there are a lot of stones of that quality and type and there's really no way of knowing if it'll amount to anything....most don't. The easy money is betting with the odds, saying that Green will not turn out to be a superstar caliber player, but as of today, there's certainly no way to know for sure.
Haha happy to explain. 1. Pre draft read articles, listened to podcasts and saw highlights and bought-in the Jalen pick 2. Summer League: quite impressed, even though it was just glimpses and he got injured. 3. Media day: disappointed by demeanor and personality (that;s what precipitated a little sh\storm here at CF) 4. Pre-season and early season: SUPER disappointed by lack of fight, passivity, unwillingness to do blue-collar work on the court, unwillingness to attack through contact. 5. Post-injury: encouraged by attack mode, free-throw rate and rebounds.
It's not the fact that I think green needs to b constantly praise its the fact that u Said it yourself u called mathews a star to trigger folks. U aren't praising them cause u r happy, u just can't b happy for every player on our team. Boy u must have digged really deep into the stats when u were u posting it after the game. Offensive rating and ts% lol. I see 6-10,that efficient for me.
Bad example. Caboclo was drafted #20 which to use your logic regarding the draft rankings is "...a loooooong way" from being drafted #2. Caboclo also spent 4 years in Toronto before they (apparently) gave up and shipped him off. When I saw Caboclo here, he was pretty much the same player he was when Toronto drafted him. Jalen has already shown more growth in the first half of this season than Caboclo had in 4 years in Toronto. Now to be fair (not hating on Caboclo), he may not have gotten the consistent minutes and attention that Jalen has, but Jalen has more potential and shown more growth than Caboclo... again bad example.
But, but... his hair hasn't changed, he still paints his nails, .... where or where can his new found manhood and toughness be coming from? Hint - It was always there, the young man just needed (and still needs) time to figure it out \develop. I'm sorry sir, but you (and a few others) are still on the hook for questioning a 19 year olds manhood and toughness just because you don't like his style. Pardon me if you've already addressed your foolish posts from earlier in the season, but if you haven't you definitely need to address that before I can take anything you say seriously.
Happy to move on, questioning someone's toughness or manhood based on their appearance was silly then and is silly now. Glad to see that people are being less "unreasonable" now...
He hasn't gone from 2 to 8 in those rankings though, you're being disingenuous. He was lower than 8 earlier in the season and then moved up to 8 by actually playing better. You're trying to compare his draft position to a power ranking for rookies where players can dramatically move week to week and have all season.
If you have read them carefully, you'd know that I always said that 19 is very young and that he may still grow up as a man. Different people mature at different rates. Some guys look and act like grown man at 19, this had been discussed. What I have said and I still believe is: that being a superstar and a leader of a championship-caliber team requires a certain alpha personality and demeanor that Jalen Green just did not have. That's not foolish, that's my experience of watching this league for 30 years. If he was to become That Guy, either he'll get this dog's edge or he'll be the first "feminine" superstar. That's what I said and it hasn't changed. (If that last scenario happens, I will of course acknowledge the paradigm shift, no question. But for you guys to act that this does not matter when it has always mattered, till now, ... now, that's foolishness)
Is it possible that you could perhaps make your own thread to repeat your incessant negativity? There is a button Oh wait you don't want that. You couldn't come a Houston Rockets message board then and call people stupid and too much of a fan of particular player(s) then. good grief
Mike Schmitz is one guy with an opinion--he has both hits and misses. Sure he might have more hits than misses but that doesn't mean his analysis/opinion/rankings somehow make or break a player's long term prospects. Looking at rankings midway through his rookie season and concluding that, since Jalen's ranked 8th on the list, the smart money is that Green's "NOT becoming [a superstar]" requires a bit of calibration. Schmitz once deemed Deni Avidja to eventually be the best player from his draft, once said Jaren Jackson could be the best player in the Doncic draft over the long haul, was supremely high (like most at the time) on Fultz, etc.
