I believe that is correct. The hard part with Memphis is the salary match, plus the fact that they have several firsts so the speculation is they're going to be big game hunting.
KPJ and Nwaba for Killian Hayes? KPJ can go back to being an off guard. We get a PG that has been a disappointment for Detroit but still has tons of growing room with Lucas coaching him. Killian is frustrated playing off ball. KPJ is frustrated playing on ball. Win win.
true, but big game hunting becomes even harder for them given the salary match issue unless they are willing to part with Kyle Andersen which I’m guessing they don’t really want to unless it’s really big game … which who would that be and does Kyle Anderson plus the picks i mentioned really move the needle. I believe Melton plus Culver works as a match for EG.
They probably are hoping for Jerami Grant. I also view Grizzlies as a good partner for EG, they have picks (3 FRP), expiring contracts (Kyle Anderson/Tyus Jones), and short contracts (Culver and Adams). The Grizzlies will start paying Morant his max the 2023 so you'd think they would like to have some things freed up. I've tossed around EG and EG + Theis for this and that. Both EG and Theis are partially guaranteed starting 2023 so the timeline adds up. I'd be happy getting a pick or swapping out players (EG/Melton) and shuffling the cap a bit.
That is very interesting, but I feel like we'd have to attach at least a SRP unless Detriot is really high on KPJ for some reason. Detroit doesn't really mind being terrible this season, but he maybe someone to keep an eye on this next offseason as a "rookie contract player who needs a new scene".
Only thing I am worried about is KPJ's relatively fragile state of stability. Clearly needs good role models and Lucas and Silas have clearly become attached. Would love to be on the good side of a feel good story if KPJ puts all of the pieces together technically and emotionally. If we offered him the opportunity to discuss a trade where he gets to choose his destiny, I think it could be a win for him. "Hey, KPJ, want to go back to SG? Would playing here interest you?"
In a perfect world... Rockets get basically 6 expiring contracts (2022 cap space) AND a 1st & two 2nd round picks: Ricky Rubio(expiring), Ed Davis(expiring), Ish Smith (non-guarantee), Mason Plumlee(50% guaranteed),Taurean Prince(expiring), Jake Layman (expiring), Hornets 2022 1st round, Cavs (from Rockets) 2022 2nd round, and Timberwolves 2022 2nd round. Hornets get an 18pts/10rebs Center for playoff run + high 2nd round pick in exchange for 2 expiring scrubs and a 1st round pick: Christian Wood and Cavs (Spurs) 2022 2nd round pick. Cavs get 2 veteran guards that both shoot over 40% from three for playoff run + a future 2nd round pick in exchange for 2 expiring scrubs and two high 2nd round picks:. Eric Gordon, DJ Augustin, and Rockets 2024 2nd round pick. Timberwolves get 3 veteran defenders for playoff run in exchange for 2 expiring scrubs and a 2nd round draft pick:. JaeSean Tate, David Nwaba, and Daniel Theis 2022-23 Rockets Roster: Jalen Brunson(FA), Max Abmas(2), Wall Jalen Green, Josh Christopher KPJ, Julian Champagne(1), KMJ Jabari Smith(1), Isaiah Mobley(2), Usman Alperen Sengun, Walker Kessler(1) Sign Jalen Brunson (LEADER) by any means necessary in offseason. We would have tons of cap space to do it. If Wall takes the buyout, then bring back Garrison Mathews to take that last spot. We're young, we're tall, we have shooters, and we have the best shot blocker from college. Let's grow...
Not shattering news but as per hoopshype, Rocket's asking price for Gordon: "Houston is seeking a first-round pick in trade talks for the veteran scoring guard, league sources told HoopsHype."

https://theathletic.com/3075329/202...luating-potential-roster-moves-before-feb-10/ John Hollinger: OK, that’s a broad canvas, but let me start painting here. Given the Rockets’ main target is the forward position, the first call should be to the Washington Wizards. Washington’s last three first-round picks have been big forwards — Rui Hachimura, Deni Avdija and Corey Kispert. They also have Kyle Kuzma, who has been awesome lately, and are paying big money to Davis Bertans. The goal for Houston would be to walk away with one of Hachimura, Avdija or Kispert. Hachimura is up for an extension this summer and has missed most of the season; I’m guessing he would be the most available of the three. He struggles with feel, and he’s only played in four games this year. However, his sheer combination of size and shooting ability offers some hope, and he’s a “young” 23 when you consider his lack of high-level basketball experience before he came to the U.S. Would taking on Hachimura be worth turning Gordon’s contract into that of Bertans, which runs through 2024-25? Hard pass. But something like Augustin, Nwaba and the 2023 Milwaukee pick (top-14 protected) for Thomas Bryant and Hachimura would be pretty interesting. My next call would be to the Bucks, and it would be a simple proposition: You can have your pick back if you give us Donte DiVincenzo. He’s a restricted free agent this summer, and the tax-paying Bucks are going to have a lot of trouble keeping him; the Rockets would also have to do some dancing around the luxury-tax line, but I’m assuming they can churn Gordon into a smaller 2023-24 salary, which would help them pay DiVincenzo and stay below the line even if they win the draft lottery. I don’t see the Bucks doing this unless they have another win-now deal lined up that takes advantage of the incoming draft pick from Houston, but it’s a call worth making. DiVincenzo could move right into Gordon’s role as a sixth man who finishes games and, depending on injuries, starts them sometimes, as well. For my third target, I would call Utah about Jared Butler. I had a lottery grade on the Jazz’s second-round pick, who has excelled in G League games and three NBA preseason games but still isn’t playing for the varsity. He’s only played 113 minutes this season and, with the Jazz in win-now mode, two-way Trent Forrest is ahead of him in the rotation. Houston might be able to get him for a second-round pick, or as a throw-in to another trade that cuts the Jazz’s luxury-tax bill. He’d be a really nice backcourt complement to Porter and Green, as he can play on or off the ball. As for destinations for Houston’s assets, I’ll start with an easy one: Eric Gordon in L.A. The Lakers can offer Talen Horton-Tucker and Kendrick Nunn, as well as a future second or two (I can’t see the Lakers adding a first to this package), and that’s one the Rockets should seriously consider. Horton-Tucker can’t shoot, but he’s pretty talented overall and is still one of the youngest players in the league; Nunn, while injured all season, was pretty good in Miami a year ago. While we’re here, the Clippers could also offer a pretty interesting package (Serge Ibaka, Justise Winslow, Jason Preston and two future seconds from Detroit). It’s harder to find a landing spot for Wood, but one place that might make sense is Charlotte. The Hornets want to play helter-skelter, end-to-end and space the floor — which is right in Wood’s wheelhouse — and don’t have a real center other than Mason Plumlee. They also were interested in Wood during his last free-agency stint, I’m told, so it wouldn’t be shocking to see them take the plunge now. Which actually is a cheap way for me to introduce a fourth target player for the Rockets: P.J. Washington. He’s been passed in Charlotte’s forward rotation and will be up for an extension this summer. A deal along the lines of Wood for Washington and Ish Smith might make everyone happy. Daniel Theis? He’s not for everybody given the three years left on his deal, and the unfortunate fact of his being acquired via sign-and-trade removes one promising destination (Chicago cannot reacquire him until after July 1). This is another spot where I could maybe see the Clippers getting involved, in a straight swap for Ibaka’s expiring deal that gets Houston off the last three years of the contract. I don’t see Nwaba or Augustin having a realistic destination, except as added contracts to even out the salaries in a deal. Augustin will be a buyout candidate after the trade deadline. Finally, I’ll note one other Rockets veteran who almost assuredly isn’t going anywhere: John Wall. He makes $47 million next year; good luck moving that deal.
Going through the NBA landscape I think Houston should go after Monte Morris. He's a bit on the "older" side at 26 but he's what this team needs. https://www.nbadraft.net/players/monte-morris/ The scoring concern coming out of college is not that big anymore considering Morris is hitting about 37% from the 3 point line on 4 attempts a game this year and he's finishing 80% of his attempts 0-3 ft from the basket. Having a steady hand at the point would do wonders for Porter and Green.
Didn't they get a 1st rounder for Tucker. Why is the away internet acting like Gordon isn't worth a 1st? Not asking for a top 5 unprotected one.
Rockets need a 4 and Hawks need another scorer who is not liability on defense. Currently under .500. EGo is better scorer and 2 way player than Bogdan, Huerter or Hunter. Hawks: EGo, Tobias Harris, Garuba + Rox SRP + Sixers swap Sixers: Bogdan, John Collins, Tate, Wall + Bucks FRP Rockets: 6'10 Simmons, 6'6 Danny Green, 6'10 Jalen Johnson, 6'7 Korkmaz, 6'8 Okongwu Rox waive Agustin. Rox start THREE players over 6'9 and 3 excellent long switch defenders around Thriller and the Crucifix. KPJ is offense off the bench. Simmons/KPJ/Korkmaz Thriller/Jaygup/Snipa DGreen/Mathews/Nwaba Jalen Johnson/KJ Wood/Sengun/Okongwu Trade Theis to playoff team at deadline for SRP.
your weird obsessions' with simmons. I do not think a player who legit quit on his team, is not mentally ready to play currently is someone we should trade for. Imagine spending all that assets for Simons, just for him to sit out when the going gets tough. People were already pissed at KPJ and woods antics, ben simons is gonna b a drama saga, we don't need.
We may not deserve it, but we do need it. Length, playmaking, rebounding, defense - the drama not so much. LOL
Sure I can see the value in Simon's. But I rather not waste resource on a person who flake off the 76ers, a playoff contender when the going grts tough. If he acts that way on a winning team, how is he gonna react when fans get pissed at him losing all the time with us.
You are right, he has an obsession! However... The trade he proposes doesn't seem to give up very much from an asset point of view, and it brings back young talent too - would be worth a look IMHO. Yes, question marks over Simmons, but there are 2 sides to every story, he wants out. Will he play better in a new scenario? Maybe... It would leave us in a place to be drafting BPA - but in need of a big (in a big heavy draft)
The Hawks want Simmons... if the 76ers are trading him for that poo poo platter of an offering (they aren't), the Hawks would just put together something of their own, imo.
