Idk y posters act like only fans of rookies when they are all Rockets rookies. But nah got to sht on one rookie to prop up another rookie.
Neither are even able to buy a beer. Dayum! Anyone can question or nit pk at every negative. Would bet my life we all had negatives at something at that age. Did we forget about the positive? Hell nah! Obvious to the eye that BOTH have crazy gifts. Neither one seems to get lost in all that ish. Just growing. Look forward to witnessing the growth.
I don’t get it, I want all of our young talent to become superstars. I know it’s not likely but I want the Rockets to be good again.
If Sengun plays with the starters, while he will face tougher opponents, he will benefit from play in a more established unit and more regular minutes. The rookies who can produce are the ones who are inserted into a working system and given a well defined role. It is no surprise Miami does well on that end. My guess is he would do worse on defense but better in offense, pulling the whole team up.
Sengun will benefit from anything, anytime or anyone because the talent and potential is obviously there. I believe he will not be able to be restricted for an extended period of time.
Senguin is really the only one on that list that plays with his back to the basket, aside from the occasional post up by Giannis.
Wood is literally taking all the shots he can take. The only way he can take more shots if he plays more. KAT has ts% 63.1 Wood has 56.7. These two players are worlds apart and Wood's ts% in no way indicates that he should take more shots. On top of that he is 9th in rockets in ts% behind players who contribute in other ways as well. If anybody should take more shots, it is the ones with higher ts%. Wood is a starter on a badly constructed bottom team. An alternative role could be a second big in a playoff team. No way he would be starting in any team that has a chance to make the playoffs.
According to basketball-reference.com Sengun (splits) Starter: 2 games...20.7 USG%....85 ORtg.....115 DRtg...41.2% (FG%) Reserve: 35 gms...22.8 USG%...111 ORtg....111 DRtg...51.2% (FG%) Green has needed reps vs players in the league once, twice and a third time if possible while learning or developing point guard skills. Not an easy thing at the NBA level. Sengun does what he did in Turkey. The Silas way was to run two bigs like he did with the Mavs (Wood/Sengun)......but Wood forced the issue of "One Big" Since then it's been about propping up Wood to get all the big man stats in order to get back the biggest return for Wood at the trading deadline. Sengun fans who wanted him to be Rookie of the Year and now MVP over Jokic just didn't or don't understand this. Order of importance has been propping up Wood stats over teaching Sengun. When Wood is traded, Sengun will get the final 28 games to learn......... what he already knows? He will be doing the same stuff, different day. Not a lot of preparation needed for getting the ball by the rim.....fake the shot over one shoulder.... turn and......shoot the ball over the other shoulder. He has proven he has that mastered.
You are aware that this group has at most one member, maybe at most two, right? And I am not part of that. I understand this is the plan about Wood. Yet it ended up with Wood dipping his trade value by quitting a game at half time. Wood is who he is. Nobody will pay him more if he puts up slightly better numbers. We'll see his value when he is traded but my take is playing him does not increase his value. What he offers and what it comes with is pretty obvious and has not changed for a long time. On a side note, though playing more minutes than Sengun, Green is suffering too from Wood taking all the shots and not moving the ball. It is painful to watch your #2 pick stand in the corner and then he has to take a shot when he gets the ball because the ball does not come to him in the natural flow of the game.
Group? Define which group, please? Oh, I'm here watching Wood; "you wanted all the big man stats!!!!" "Now where are they (Mr Wood)?" Wood always gets hurt or runs out of gas going up against the big boys game in and game out. And that's been with Drummond, Blake Griffin, Thon Maker, Markieff Morris. He wants the next team that trades for him to be thinking Max contract, right now, prior to trading for him. I wish him well. --------- Green has hit that proverbial, "Rookie Wall" that I've mentioned....imo *3-pt shot becomes flat....fails to draw iron. *Start reaching instead of moving feet defensively. Draw fouls. *Not as active on the boards. *Miss more layups *FT % drops some due to fatigue. *Just sloppy in general.
do you think alpi has problems finishing around the rim? imho its just about generation of easy looks, not actual hitting them
I bolded the group when I was quoting you: 'Sengun fans who wanted him to be Rookie of the Year and now MVP over Jokic just didn't or don't understand this.'
Sorry, didn't press "expand" So you think SOF's are only a couple individuals?.....sure. Keep telling yourself that.
The ones who think he has a shot to be ROY or will be MVP in a couple years, yes there are a few of them. Even if he played 30 minutes a game, he has no shot at rookie of the year. He could have had the most impact relative to where he was picked, had he played more minutes or even better played in a system that could maximize his offensive skill set.
Yes this is often the case when bringing in so many new faces to a relatively young squad: Jalen Green, Josh Christopher, Sengun, Garuba, Theis, Mathews, Nix, Queen added to: Wood, Nwaba, House, Tate, Kenyon, Armoni Brooks There is a pecking order....everyone wants their dog at the head of the pack pulling the sled. Green favorites want Green to get all the touches Sengun favorites want Sengun to get starter minutes and greater touches I Christopher fans want him to see more minutes Garuba fans want him to get more minutes Porter Jr favorites want him to get more time at PG Wood favorites want Wood to get all his stats and the neck bone is connected to the knee bone....etc, etc. Top of the totem pole is: *Rockets staff/management (Tilman/Patrick/Stone) wanting clutter seen and hopefully their trade stock risen. Clutter being: House, Augustin, Wood, Eric Gordon, Nwaba, Theis *Coaching: Silas and company. Silas wanted Theis to be incorporated into his scheme to have the role of Kleber or WCS or Powell of the Mavericks in 19/20 when Silas played them and their pace was top echelon. Wood wrecked this attempt early after about 9 games. *Agents: players agents want their clients to be given the opportunity to excel so that their client is sought after. Augustin help a contender as point guard 2nd team. Nwaba as a defensive gem in game situations. Wood as a stretch 4 that can play the 5.....score, rebound, block shots, steals, shoot 3's (please don't look at my clients FT%). And so on and so on. *Players wants *Media wants *Fans wants *Bottom of totem pole.....where the trolls exist
