I preferred that in our nba draft too.

    He's really good

Keeping Tunsil and drafting Neal along with an OG high in the draft would really protect Mills and open up the run game. Neal is a dominant OL. He's really good and the offense would really be opened up.

I don’t know…I think the Texans got their LT.

I want to see Howard start at LT and stay at LT. Now interior OL is a different story they need a lot help at guard.

Howard isn't a LT. Doesn't have the feet for it. He can play LT against scrubs but not against the elite pass rushers. You've already got an elite LT. Howard is closer to busty than elite

Yet you want to trade him away.

I want more elote players not less.

Howard is your RT and Tunsil is your LT. Neal only makes sense if you trade Tunsil. Personally I’d look elsewhere at # 3 as T is the only position group on the team that isn’t a massive gaping hole of talent.

    Harold Landry is a scrub?

Elite pass in pass protection? Yes. Run blocking? Definitely not. 22 million for an average run blocker is not a good use of capital.

I'm building an OL with talent. I dont care where players were drafted. Give me Neal and Salyers for the next decade and I'm very happy to have the right side of the OL secured for the next decade.

I'd take Neal, move Tunsil to right tackle and Howard inside to guard.

Neal, Howard, Britt, Sharping (or whoever) and Tunsil is a pretty good line. No need to draft a guard, imo.

If you want a dominant OL then invest in it. I'm not a fan at all of Howard, Scharping.

Play Tunsil at LT next year. Then trade him if you want.

My OL next year would look like this.

    LT- Tunsil
    LG- Howard
    C- Britt
    RG- Salyer, Rd.2
    RT- Neal, Rd.1

That's a young solid OL that can protect Mills and improve the run game.

Why, Neal has played RT. Tunsil has never played RT in his life and he was a pro bowl LT. Why would you want to mess with that?

Maybe you don't. Just seems like people are pegging Neal to be a hot shot LT and Tunsil seems to have fallen off a bit.

He's certainly not elite. But if I looked I could probably show you a few plays where Landry beat Howard. Howard is closer to a scrub than Landry. Howard's been part of the OL problem the last 3 years. 2 years where the run game ranked 31st and 32nd.

Protecting your QB is a good use of capital.

I'm hoping anybody drafted at #3 can become as good as Tunsil is, a pro bowl level player.

    https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/L/LandHa00.htm

Dude had 12 sacks this year but had 0 sacks, 0 tfl’s and 0 qb hits against Howard.

They were equally bad running the ball with Howard or Tunsil. So why not get rid of the guy making 22 million and keep the guy on a rookie contract who is finally playing his natural position? And unfortunately Howard is not very good at guard…so you have to keep him outside.

I agree that the Texans need elite, blue chip talent. All the teams in the playoffs probably have 5 or more blue chippers. I just think the best use of capital would be something like: Howard, Ekwonu (if they can grab a 2nd top 10 pick for Watson otherwise one of the guards you have mentioned in the 2nd) Britt, FA, Heck.

Honestly you can’t go wrong with Neal or keeping Tunsil it’s how can you best maximize your current talent and fill in the holes.

I guess you can tell I'm not a fan of Howard's Being honest I didn't like picking a small school guy like Howard in the 1st and his play over the last 3 yrs says he's an avg player at best. Certainly not a franchise LT and I certainly wouldn't pickup his 5th yr option. In fact if I could trade Howard for a 3rd rd pick I would do it.

Pretty good stuff, plus he's dominant in the run game.

Think he might be an upgrade over Heck?
