The ex wife and her fiancé has it. They are anti vaccine. I’m not saying she’s wrong or right for not getting.

She is now regretting not getting the vaccine. So much so that she for some reason found it necessary to apologize to me. I have never said one word to her in the negative about not getting it. She has every symptom under the Sun and then some. She said it feels like her skin is on fire. It just keeps getting worse and worse for them both.

I have 2/4 kids with it here.
Haven’t tested myself (nor has my wife) since we can easily work from home and it’s so hard to find the tests.

    one kid is symptom free
    The other has mild symptoms.

I feel like i might have it and have had some strange stuff happening - line 2 days ago I woke up at 1 am with cold sweats and extreme dizziness and naseua … threw up, “chilled” as best I could and went back to sleep a couple hours later. Had a super annoying headache for a few days.

    meh.

that sucks. I think I'm still in the camp of I'd like to avoid getting it.

our district sends email anytime your kid is in class or grade where they might share space and there’s a kid who has it. Granted I have 4 school age children but since last Tuesday we’ve gotten like 25 emails.

my understanding is Omicron is about as contagious a virus as exists.

    fortunately we’re all fully vaccinated.

When I had what was likely Alpha back in Jan 2021 I'd say that skin/scalp hurting was the worst. Being drenched in sweat was really annoying too. I would go to sleep with clothes on just so I could take them off after being completely doused in sweat. I think the biggest failure of the whole covid deal is the fact that it's primarily been a discussion between life and death. It's really just a shitty damn virus to catch even if you don't get completely nuked by it. Sure you'll survive getting your wisdom teeth removed but if I could take a vaccine to make sure getting my wisdom teeth removed was the equivalent of popping a pimple then that would be much more preferable

Me and my wife have very likely had covid 3 times (I've probably given it to her twice from jiujitsu) since the beginning. Each has been less severe. What exactly does he mean by they are reoccurring too fast? I've also had multiple minor staph infections from jiujitsu during this time. So I guess it's relative to a degree.

Do you wear a rash guard? Shower right after practice? There is no such thing as social distance in grappling arts and wearing a mask is meaningless when you're in that close contact and a mask will do nothing to prevent staph infection.

If you're taking the right steps to protect yourself and still getting staph infections I would consider talking to your school about making sure everyone there is engaging in good hygiene.

Yes I shower before and after and we have routine disinfecting after each class. I’ve also got all kind of stuff to disinfect myself if I need to. I try not to overuse things like chlorhexidine like I have since it can disrupt your natural skin balance.

These little infections are kind of hard to avoid when you are rolling around in a pool of sweat without a gi. It’s generally an ingrown hair that turns into something but I’ve had MRSA 20+years ago so I’m on top of things quickly.

Clinical outcomes among patients infected with Omicron (B.1.1.529) SARS-CoV-2 variant in southern California

    Delta compared to Omicron

    Hospitalization rate down 50%
    Hospitalization length down 70%
    ICU rate down 75%
    Death rate down 90%

    https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2022.01.11.22269045v1.full.pdf

Results: Our analyses included 52,297 cases with SGTF (Omicron) and 16,982 cases with non-SGTF (Delta [B.1.617.2]) infections, respectively. Hospital admissions occurred among 235 (0.5%) and 222 (1.3%) of cases with Omicron and Delta variant infections, respectively. Among cases first tested in outpatient settings, the adjusted hazard ratios for any subsequent hospital admission and symptomatic hospital admission associated with Omicron variant infection were 0.48 (0.36-0.64) and 0.47 (0.35-0.62), respectively. Rates of ICU admission and mortality after an outpatient positive test were 0.26 (0.10-0.73) and 0.09 (0.01-0.75) fold as high among cases with Omicron variant infection as compared to cases with Delta variant infection. Zero cases with Omicron variant infection received mechanical ventilation, as compared to 11 cases with Delta variant infections throughout the period of follow-up (two-sided p<0.001). Median duration of hospital stay was 3.4 (2.8-4.1) days shorter for hospitalized cases with Omicron variant infections as compared to hospitalized patients with Delta variant infections, reflecting a 69.6% (64.0-74.5%) reduction in hospital length of stay.

Conclusions: During a period with mixed Delta and Omicron variant circulation, SARS-CoV-2 infections with presumed Omicron variant infection were associated with substantially reduced risk of severe clinical endpoints and shorter durations of hospital stay

My cousin seems to be improving and has probably avoided the worst possible outcome. The Doctors are not sure it is because of the Pfizer pill or if that was just a coincidence since she was so far along in the infection. My Uncle said she mentioned she no longer feels like she was constantly drowning to death.

Does that mean this could become a seasonal thing?

It was always going to become endemic. The good news is that the irrational fear of it should start to subside and the treatments should continue to get better and better.
