Judge never should have been a HC in the first place.

    Dude is trash.

Got caught recording the 49ers signals back in 2010 (just like his Mentor) when he was with the Broncos.

Texans need to let the failed Belichick coaching tree go.

Unless it’s Bill Belichick himself, get someone else.

I think it’s too soon at the moment, but would love to see DeMeco be a HC for the Texans one day.

    Prolly 2-3 years too soon…

Through this rough patch the Texans are going through now, Flores would be a great choice because the Dolphins gave up on him way too quick.

Just to play devil’s advocate, but what do all those coaches in the belichick coaching tree have in common? They all went to teams with no qb.

Bill Obrien lasted nearly seven seasons, more than any former Patriots coach. Why? Because he had a qb. If it wasn’t for Watson, obrien would’ve probably been fired in 2017.

Compare that to Sean Mcvay’s coaching tree: Matt Lafleur, Zac Taylor, Brandon Staley. All three have a franchise qb, two out of three are currently in the playoffs, with only Staley barely missing the playoffs.

At the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter who the Texans hire. Whoever they get is going to get fired in 3-4 years because we don’t have a qb.

No one from the Patriots, that’s for damn sure. :D

It doesn’t matter who or what I want.
    NFL recycles the same coaches.

Said this last year, I don’t care if you’re a good OC or DC. I’m not hiring you as OC or DC. I’m hiring you as HC.
Some guys are better coordinators than head coaches.

Honestly, who does more or gets more with less?
What’s the track record look like?
Maybe it’s unfair to them (penalizing them for having great talent) and I’m shrinking the candidate pool but…
I’m not hiring from the Patriots. (Brady/Belichick)
I’m probably not hiring Bienemy (product of Mahomes/Reid)

    All the usual “hot” names…
    Brian Daboll (Bills OC)
Ravens coordinators Greg Roman & Wink Martindale
    Matt Eberflus (Colts DC)
    Eric Bienemy (Chiefs OC)
    Mike Kafka (Chiefs PGC)
Cowboys coordinators Kellen Moore & Dan Quinn
    Patrick Graham (Giants DC)
Aaron Glenn (Texans legend; Lions DC)
    Nathaniel Hackett (Packers OC)
    Dennis Allen (Saints DC)
Bucs coordinators Byron Leftwich & Todd Bowles
Rams coordinators Kevin O’Connell & Raheem Morris
49ers coordinators Mike McDaniel & DeMeco Ryans

You want some recycled names, got those too…
    Leslie Frazier (Bills DC)
    Josh McDaniels (Patriots OC)
    Love Smith (Texans DC)
    Jim Schwartz (Titans assistant)
    Jim Haslett (Titans ILBs)
    Mike Munchak (Broncos OL)
    Steve Spagnulo (Chiefs DC)
    Gus Bradley (Raiders DC)
    Rod Marinelli (Raiders DL)
    Tom Cable (Raiders OL)
    Joe Philbin (Cowboys OL
    Dan Quinn (Cowboys DC)
    Ben McAdoo (Cowboys consultant)
    Freddie Kitchens (Giants assistant)
    Jason Garrett
    Jack Del Rio (WFT DC)
    Dennis Allen (Saints DC)
    Todd Bowles (Bucs DC)
    Vance Joseph (Cardinals DC)
    Raheem Morris (Rams DC)
    Doug Pederson
    Jon Gruden
    Rex Ryan (ESPN)

    1. It doesn’t happen
    2. They have a GM now (see: control/power)
    3. Team isn’t very good/is far away
but forget the idea of a big name HC or trading for one (Tomlin, Payton, Carroll, etc.)
Even the idea of going after someone like Jim Harbaugh, not happening.

    How about fired coaches?
Matt Nagy? (The Eric Bienemy before Bienemy)
Vic Fangio? (Good defenses, no QB in Denver)
Brian Flores? (Hey, if you want to go back to the Patriot tree)
Joe Judge? (Hey, if you want to go back to the Patriot tree)
    Urban Meyer?
    Jon Gruden?
    Mike Zimmer?

Not advocating for him but if you’re impressed with his work, (Andrew Luck, Stanford/Colts; Justin Herbert, Chargers; Davis Mills, Texans), Pep Hamilton?
    Everyone loves Davis Mills.

Like I said it don’t matter. It’s whatever.
If he’s gone, fully expecting someone with Patriot/Belichick/Saban/John Carroll ties…

What makes you think Mills isn't the future at QB?

He looked really good to me the last month of the season.

That dude won’t give Mills any credit. Bud mind is made up. I honestly want Mills to become a franchise QB just to drive them nuts

Sample size. The actuarial tables are not in his favor. Granted, many other young QBs have even worse outlooks, but the jury is absolutely still out on Mills. I'm just happy we have something compelling to look forward to next year in finding out of Mills is the real deal or not. Most teams in our spot wouldnt even have that.

I actually agree with this, he’s a good guy and I hate to see him done like that.
But at end of the day it is a results business.
    It sucks

Tell me more about these actuarial tables and I'll tell you more about what I see with my eyes. Do these tables take into account the bad OL or lack of running game? How about the lack of weapons around him?

Sometimes you have to hire a guy a year or two too soon to secure him from the rest of the league, and make sure you get the guy you want on YOUR timeline. When you're in a hardcore rebuild, you can afford to let the coach grow with the team. Look to Tennessee for an example.

That being said, let's get a new, young perspective.

Give me someone like a Demeco Ryans, Aaron Glenn, Jerod Mayo (Patriots, I know), or Byron Leftwich.

First, we have to get Culley out of here, though.

Just as how I don't really care what you think about the draft (don't take offense as I don't really care what anyone, including myself, has to say about it), I also don't really care what you think about Mills. My opinion of Mills is quite high, but I'm also a realist and recognize that we're not out of the woods in terms of the QB search yet. It's entirely plausible (if not likely) Mills falls flat on his face next year (this is not a criticism, the vast majority of QBs flame out). However, the fact we're heading into 2022 with Mills starting and the possibility he may be it still alive is a big win.

I'm just about as done as trying to be New England South as I was done trying to be Denver South, but we're in too deep now.

Caserio, for better or worse, runs the show now. So, I want to let him cook however he chooses.

Before this we were always trying to replicate another franchise from the outside, but now we're basically all-in.

If Caserio brings in McDaniels or some other Patriots person, fine, but if it drags on for 3+ years too long (ahem BOB) then I'll want Caserio booted just the same.

    No offense taken.

I didn't ask you about all of this.

I I asked if the tables took into account the things that I listed. Honest question
