making too much out of a lucky bounce putback...i saw guys always playing hard for their beloved coach...its nba somebody gotta lose....
Kevin Porter from the Washington Bullets maybe. This one ****ing sucks at it. His drive & pass game is pretty much non-existent, unless you count halftime last Sunday.
I agree that some fans said stupid Silas only likes to play undrafted players since Silas himself is an underdog.
Stephen Silas folks. This is the effectiveness of his coaching. Yeah wtf is he even doing? We’ll get ‘em next time I guess.
Said it before and will say it again and the reason I started this thread……Silas sucks!!!!!! I also started another thread a while back that I got ripped apart on how we need to fire whoever is the defensive coach on this team because it appears we don’t have one (defensive coach or defense for that matter). Houston is synonymous with losing so we can handle it, but getting embarrassed night after night with a team that gives little to no effort is inexcusable and Silas and the rest of that lame coaching staff (minus Lucas) must go!!!!!!
Coaching competitive basketball…..no discipline whatsoever whether it’s defense, free throws, turnovers, etc. Lack of discipline with the team he has lost for the incident that happened with Porter. Tough guy gives one lousy game for a player who attacks a coach and leaves the team and stadium mid game…GIMME A F#%^*+ BREAK….what a Charmin coach. SILUS SUCKS!!!
So you can't really articulate anything specifics? You are just assigning individual player failures all onto Silas?
If you watch these games and think "this is a well coached team" then you're as dumb as we think SIlas is.
I see a bunch of kids who don;t know how to play basketball. I think any coach would struggle. Its lazy to just blindly blame the coach.
They are playing like pick up games every night. No plays, just iso. No effort on D. The team regressed instead of improving. It is the half of the season, so yeah, it is on the coaching staff. If you want to still blame the players (of course they have a share of it), at least understand the coaching staff is accountable for allowing this shitshow. It is on their power who gets playing time or not.
Exactly! "sucks" may me too offensive a word, but bottomline is bottomline: this is not working. If he's not let go, that's the clearest possible signal to the fans, "We don't care about winning or putting a compelling product on the floor!!! But please, do buy tickets to see our exciting young stars jog around with their their flamboyant hairstyles!"
Great post!!! You are correct and I do apologize for using the word “Sucks” because Silas seems like a decent person and would be a great coach for younger kids with his easygoing non disciplinarian style. For professionals getting paid millions upon millions just entering their post-college careers his lack of discipline for players such as KPJ and Wood shows not only on the court (KPJ has been an awful mess) but sadly off the court as well. We don’t need Bobby Knight here, but need someone who can reign in and keep this group focused for 4 quarters per game.
What potential candidates do you see as beneficial? I think Kelvin Sampson would be a natural fit but why would he give up his gig at UH? JVG would probably not give up his sweet ESPN job either. So it seems at least for now Silas is the fall guy as the team secures another top pick. I’m a proponent of giving the job to Lucas myself, at least on an interim basis, to hopefully get these guys playing defense.
Him sucking is part of the plan. You think we coincidentally got 4 picks last year? We probably getting 4 more this draft.
The defense sucks because the defense needs to suck for us to tank. If these players actually played defense we'd lose our chances for a top 5 pick. Given that Wood and Gordon will be gone next season - there's no point trying to make a push with players who will be gone and leave us sucking next year. Get the pick, focus on individual player development, and then start focusing on winning next season. That's the best strategy.
