Judging from how Yao looked after retirement, not sure how much of it was "forced" ;).

So I can’t speak for countries I haven’t spent lived in, but while Kobe was popular in Japan partly because of his name, he is popular in China because of marketing and charisma. T-Mac and Kobe’s jerseys all sold far more than Yao’s in China, and I can’t imagine having the name of a Japanese city would add points for Kobe in places that still deeply resent Japan to this day.

If anything he had to overcome his name to become the almost deity-like figure he’s seen as amongst basketball fans in the Far East. Lebron’s space jam movie was not blackballed in countries other than China, it just sucked. Asia isn’t a monolith, and is deeply complex both in terms of culture and in terms of those culture’s relations with each other.

    just my two cents

You’ve been ******** on Harden since forever, I don’t understand. He was the primary part of our team’s success for damn near a decade. You might not be a Yao only/Lin only fan but you sure give me those vibes occasionally. And the way you interact with people is incendiary as hell, looking to get a rise out of people for no reason.

Makes me wonder what your personal relationship with James Harden is—because if there isn’t one, I think sometimes you’re just trolling for the sake of it.

I don’t care about Yao and I sure as **** don’t care about Jeremy Lin so I don’t know what you’re talking about.

In regards to Harden I shi*t on him because of his play and constantly coming up short when it matters most. He’s gives me lots of ammunition. It usually comes in the playoffs but he cant even do the regular season right anymore.

Incendiary as hell? Rise out of people? Maybe…. I was right in regards to him and people shat on me and flamed me to no end when I suggested we trade his sorry ass in 2017 so ima make sure to keep reminding you fools. Read all the messages that tried to troll me and make it personal in the thread link below. PS it’s almost been 5 years since I suggested that and Harden hasn’t done sh*t and he’s still ringless while we’re just finally beginning our rebuild now.

The attitude Harden should have had with the Rockets.

    Instead we got a quitter.

His fanbois will blame his performance on injury cause they always look for an excuse but you see that 2:40 mark. That’s typical Harden making a crucial turnover in crunch time. Has nothing to do with his hamstring. Aside from that he’s in every Giannis highlight being the bum he is…. Standing around, lost, no sense of urgency whatsoever.

50 points on 16-25 shooting, 14 rebounds and 5 blocks in Championship game. Legendary.

This the type of performance Harden and his fanbois and former fans (like myself) could only dream of. can’t believe the Harden nuthuggers think Giannis stole one his MVP’s just like Curry did. No wonder why they’re so threatened by those 2 guys.

Also…. Not bad for a guy that just runs and dunks.

You’re talking about people making it “personal” with you when you’re doing the exact same thing. I don’t think I’ve ever approached you with disrespect, let alone flame you and/or make it personal, so you doing it to me isn’t a particularly sensational feeling.

In regards to Harden, I was extremely happy to be able to watch a player who grew and developed into a superstar on the Rockets, perhaps the first since Yao. We were lucky to have him. And I still think that we could have won a chip with him as our best player, though sadly that ship has sailed and I’ve been proven wrong. He’s not even a Rocket anymore, so it’s sad but I don’t think about Harden all that much.

So here’s where I do make it personal. Since you made your account in 1999, you clearly have some years on you. In that case, why does being “right” on a random-ass basketball topic matter to you so much, and why does it justify you being a twit to people online?

Quit trying to call me out and then trying to back peddle and play the victim card. You approached me initially by associating me as being a Jeremy Lin fan. It doesn’t get much more ‘disrespectful’ than that. I’m not looking for respect from anyone from a “random-ass” basketball forum anyways. If your feelings got hurt when I said “you fools” in regards to Harden fanbois then I suggest you toughen up or just put me on ignore cause Harden will keep ****ing up and I’m not going to stop reminding you guys of it.

Seems like you’re the sensitive one for getting your feathers unruffled. I don’t have to backpedal at all, since I literally said you might not be a Lin or Yao only fan, but you remind me of one—basically because you come across as incredibly self-righteous and antagonistic, which I think you’re proving right now. I couldn’t care less if the Nets do poorly; in fact if they do then our picks get better.

I like to think that I can get along with most people, but you make it difficult. I wonder how many people in your life you’ve alienated because of your attitude? None of my business.

When you need to hide behind the veneer of being sensational to cover up your own shortcomings it’s got to be tough. But don’t worry! From one Asian to another, I still got love for you, uncle.

you think i hate Giannis, i have no beef or issue with him. He is more of Lebron and Durant's rival.. than Harden

My issue with steph curry is that, he is placed in these top 20 lists when he doesnt belong there, check basketball reference. Its all there, harden has forced the game to change, he revolutioned it. Bigs like Embiid, Randle, and KAT are taking sidestep and stepback 3's. Guards like trae young and Luka are on record saying that they model their game after harden. Why are they always asked about stephen curry, when most if not all young players do not play like curry, or want to play like him. The fact that harden has been demonized by the same white leftist media that props curry up and the players still dont respect him enough to copy his game.. should speak volumes. Even steph currys supposed replica.. trae young wants nothing to do with his style of play. The league put in rules that make it harder to emulate hardens game because refs are intentionally ignoring foul calls, and not the ref-baiting kinds either. They want teams to play like the warriors, without understanding the fcat that nobody plays the warriors style better than the warriors. You beat them with iso pick and roll guard play, but now how the game is called this year, its virtually impossible to beat the warriors 4 times over 7 games.. this was a big miscalculation by the league.

Hardens best playoff runs have been better than currys as well. No guard has the biggest dropoff from regualr season to playoffs than Curry according to ben taylor and somehow this is always overlooked

Curry proved that a team built around perimeter shooting could win a title.

Curry has been shooting sidestep 3's for years and years. Harden doesn't.

Curry is the GOAT shooter. No one wants to put in the required time/effort needed to copy his game.

No one thinks Trae Young is Curry's supposed replica. The efficiency isn't there.

Because it doesn't really matter. What matters is the resulting shooting percentages. For example, even if Curry's shooting drops from 43% to 37% from the 3pt line, 37% is still above average. But if a 37% shooter drops to 32%, that would be hard to overcome.

you are pretty much wrong on all of that

    https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/danny-green-breaks-nba-finals-3-point-record/

lol didnt danny green set a finals record in 2013 with like 40 total threes.. the 2013 and 2014 with gary neal and george hill were already chucking and making threes.. curry proved nothing, the only thing curry proved was that the warriors were willing to spend to build a champion. Bogut, iggy, draymond, klay and curry were apart of the team with the payroll in the league until i think the cavs surpassed them in 2017

here is curry attempting a harden sidestep 3 lol

    Are you blind? That's a step-back 3.

And I was right about everything. Danny Green wasn't the focal point of the offense. He was a beneficiary of it.
