Ya. The more reasonable takes are with @Bobbythegreat beliving that Green will be a career bench player because at 19 with his adult body not even fully developed, hes too bad of a defender. Might as well regulate him to a eventual bench role for his career. Makes perfect sense.
@Clutch is just about the flash and no substance. Bobby is a technical analysts of the game of basketbal (probably has never even played a fullcourt pick up game in his life).

Because 19 year olds in the NBA in their rookie year who will average 18-22 pts their first season on above average efficiency end up being career bench players.

BTW, no one is saying run over there, it needs to be multiple people cutting and cycling, the entire team should be doing that.....but whatever, that is not the Silas offense it is let one man create, be it KPJ, Green, Tate....until Sengun is in...then it is him....with CUTTERS!

I live how many excuses you feel like you have to make.... I'm wondering how many more years you'll be doing it.

I find it interesting as in the 2nd or 3rd year you would know more about what the center pieces are.
(You could plan to keep Sengün and Green for like forever without identifying them too soon, exerting pressure on them to develop faster.)

The team has so many holes including a soft coach, a sub par assistant coaching staff, holes everywhere except SG, SF spots.

Wood is not going to be here for long so I included the Center spot.

Too many mouths to feed on the starting unit as of right now. I doubt the FO feels rushed with Green and Sengun this season since they are still trying to move on from the harden era and see what we have on this roster. Players like KPJ and Wood have decisions coming up regarding whether they are staying (extensions) or going (trades).

I know dude. How insane is it to still believe in a dude who's already 19 years of age with an entire 1/3rd of a NBA season under his belt. Like is there even precedent of people adding mass or being better at their craft after that age? Like it's all down hill after that. I'm sure you were going bald by 20 right?

    Agreed.

It is very possible we go for a full rebuild with another season of being a bottom 5/10 team with the OKC pick situation kicking in again (2024 draft) and our cap space. Wall, Wood, KPJ, and Gordon may not be on this team and we go younger and less experienced for 2022 season.

I mean, nothing really closes: we have Top 4 protection on the picks to OKC... If you want to lose indefinitely and draft at the top, nothing prevents you from doing it.

My issue with Jalen Green is that he's supposed to be an offensive focal point for the team, but he's allowed himself to be just a role player thus far.

Yesterday he only took 8 shots total throughout the whole game and nearly went throughout the entire first quarter without any points. I don't know if this is mainly a coaching or player issue. My hunch is this is mostly a player issue rather than an issue with Silas' system. I don't think Jalen's moving off-ball to get himself open enough. You see someone like Garrison Mathews constantly moving to get himself open at the 3 point line.

It seems to me like Jalen is taking some nights off and not bringing it in the effort department which is why we have the inconsistency from game to game - a solid 20+ point outing followed by a quiet 12 point game. Also, he needs to improve as a shooter because right now Garrison Mathews has a better FG percentage than Jalen does.

I'm less concerned about his poor defense now than I am regarding his offensive production because we knew his defense was a weakness when he was drafted. But it's not good to see him being inconsistent on offense because when he was drafted he was hyped to be "a walking bucket."

I want Jalen to be successful too, but you also have to be honest about the situation instead of being a biased homer. If this was a rookie on another team most people here would think the same thing...the Jalen Green experience has been kind of disappointing thus far. Almost mid-way through the season, he hasn't once been #1 on the weekly KIA rookie ladder because of his inconsistency, and he was widely predicted to be ROTY. It's kind of crazy to see everyone blaming other factors (Silas, Theis, KPJ, Wood, he's not getting enough garbage time minutes, etc.) rather than wanting to throw any criticism Jalen Green's way.

Mathews was placed in the same system with no adjustments and looked all world.

Green flashes greatness and the the more he shows the more there is to like. He has been mishandled/managed so far by being asked to do more than he is “ready” for. That’s on coaching or lack there of, or is it Mathews is a better player?

I have no doubt that you think your irrational religious belief in Jalen Green is every bit as natural as the irrational religious belief Lin's fans had in him.

The only question is how long that irrational faith holds out.

Let's face it, this cycle is getting old. Green fans make delusional statements about his greatness, someone counters that with reality, then Green fans make excuses.

"Jalen Green can walk on water and his saliva cures cancer"

"That's ridiculous and obviously not true"

"HE'S JUST 19, WHY ARE YOU GIVING UP ON HIM!!!"

last 7 games he has been great. 19.3ppg on 45 percent shooting and 44 percent from three. 84 percent from the line. As his body fills out, i expect him to be a more aggressive rebounder as well. averaging around 4-5 a game. Plenty of time to improve his game

This is why watching this team before the trade deadline is so pointless. It's almost like a glorified summer league team. Everyone trying to get their own instead of working as a unit. I only tune in to watch Green, Sengun and Christopher. That's it.

I'm looking forward to the trade deadline and the draft so I can see some actual roster construction instead of...whatever it was that we saw last night. KPJ and Wood can't be gone soon enough though.
