Sure you do, he has been battered and beaten, and some of it earned, and some people are crusading to have him cut. He was great on D, pretty bad shooting but ok on everything else - and he hit a huge shot to win.

Many wanted him cut, we don't win tonight without KPJ and Wood......time to mend fences and cheer for all Rockets....and it is certainly OK to be a doubter of any of them....

Green is a streaky shooter. He'll be 2-10 every night for a week then be 7 for 9 one night and that skews his shooting numbers.

KPJ is more consistent shooting the numbers he currently is. They aren't great, but it's what can reasonably be expected from him.

I give an advantage to the more consistent 3 point shooter.

When it comes to objectivity, it's something I strive for, which is why I try to stick to what can be objectively proven. It doesn't always work, but I think it helps keep me away from buying into flash over substance.

To Green's credit, when he is sticking to what he does well, he can be pretty good on offense. That's why it just confuses me that so many of his fans want him to do the things he's not good at.

Wish we had 2nd Spectrum data to validate but I would argue Green is a significantly better spot up shooter than KPJ. I think Green’s shooting numbers are impacted quite a bit by a lot of those heat check step back 3s he was taking earlier in the year but I suppose you are right that I wouldn’t necessarily want Green playing iso ball against KCP…but in a quick hitting spot up situation(if KPJ had dumped it to Green immediately after the screen), then I would have preferred Green take that shot.

    @SamFisher

I went and looked at the bucket the Rockets got before Garrison's 3. It was the KJ Martin putback dunk. You can see the clip here :

    https://www.nba.com/stats/events/?GameEventID=447&GameID=0022100569&Season=2021-22&flag=1&title=Martin Jr. Putback Layup (6 PTS)&sct=plot

If you look at the broadcast score, it shows it was 72-65, so after the dunk it was 74-65 Rockets. The next score for the Rockets was the Mathews 3 pointer which would make it 77-69 Rockets at that point. Somehow the broadcast gave us an extra point since in the Mathews video it shows 75-69.

Technically Gordon should have taken the shot - but I think Silas wanted to give KPj a chance - and we couldn't lose, so why not? It worked out!!

    That is actually great coaching.

The Wizards broadcast had it 78-69, just like the Houston Broadcast.

Where did they deduct a point from Houston? They only had 1 3 pointer in the period at that point - a deep one from Gordon.

I highly disagree with that. I definitely do not think KPJ should be cut and he deserves a lot more time to improve, but he was by far the least important component in today's win,

He made the game winning shot, but it's a single 3 point shot. If the Rockets made that same shot earlier in the game it would have had a similar/same impact. KPJ took a lot of ill-advised shots today, turned over the ball a lot, and only went 25% from the FT line. Him cutting back in anyone one of these would have allowed us to win the game more comfortably.

If we removed the game winner from the equation, he would have had by far the worse showing this game.

Here is the phantom point on ESPN box score.
5:55 [IMG] Christian Wood makes 3-foot dunk (Jalen Green assists) 71 - 65
    5:55 [IMG] Raul Neto shooting foul 72 - 65
5:55 [IMG] Christian Wood makes free throw 1 of 1

They added 2 points on only one made FT.

    Mystery solved I guess

Making the game winner is great and all, but I find it quite dumb for some folks to act like he out played others. Man took a risky ass shot and thankfully it went in for the win.

Yeah I agree. If he misses we go to OT, but if he hits it you give a kid with issues a real feel good moment and celebration with his peers. In a season like this one, that's a good decision. The confidence boost KP gets from hitting that shot is worth the potential miss. I'm really happy for him.

Bad win (we should be stinking it up like Detroit) but great play from the Rox tonight.

C Wood and KPj went out on a mission and proved the doubters wrong. Both were assertive, had great energy and played hard on both ends of the court. You can see CWood giving guidance on the young guys and pointing to himself when he makes a bad defensive play. KPJ tried to do too much and shot horribly but he had 8 ast, 4 stls and 7 rebs. He is a big guard I dont think he has a future at the point but maybe he can be our sf in the future like EG.

Green had another monster game. 22 pts, 6 rebs and 2nd highest +/- tonight. He also attacked the rim hard and used his athleticism to close out on defenders. There's a reason he was ROY front runner before the season started. He also now top 6 in the Kia ROY. Not bad for the worst player in the nba, worst bust, the next Corey Brewer etc

Jaygup and Kmart Jr deserve more pt. The Rox need to trade some of the vets and make way for these guys.
