yep btw not sure when is the right thing to shoot 3? imho it should be a personal choice if the defense sags off of him a lot ie if its a wide open shot then its 2 dribbles and hes at the rim... from my personal experience i sometimes not feel like shooting a 3..either i am tired and then my shot is off or i just dont feel it in the moment, i will always choose putting the ball on the floor and attacking the defender that sagged off of me despite what 'analytics say'... btw my game is a lot like senguns/tate...i am very shifty, postup moves, hookshots and mini hookshots, weird layups, scoopshots and all kind of finishes around the rim and even behind the backboard...in recent years i have added a midrange game and my middy is pretty good..i can also hit an occasional 3 but i am not a great fan of it, i feel i have a greater control and I am able to offensive rebound(very good at it) if i miss midrange or postup... so all in all even if its a wide open 3 imho its better for sengun to go with his feel and attack the paint with either floater or some of his moves than shoot 3 when hes not feeling it or if its not his game yet...but i see he has not problem with just firing it up when left alone
Do anybody knows when Sengun will be back? I hope Silas do not keep him out until next month......seriously.
Well, Sengun should be back Sunday at least...it would be more than a week. I do not want to hear Silas, wanting to keep him out this month.
I don't think the board is not receiving him well. Quite the contrary. The post you quoted above really had nothing to do with the general attitude on the board. It is a shame if someone is not positive about Green. He looks like Michael Jordan out there with a smooth 3 pt shot. It might take him longer to pull his all around game together than Sengun, but he will have some fantastic games in terms of scoring (Sengun will maybe achieve a few times in his career.) and have a lot of impact. In the end Rockets have two great picks in Green and Sengun and the rest of the youngs are great too.
There are a few things: - Sometimes it is not as easy as '2 dribbles and you are at the rim'. There are situations where going to the rim likely ends up in an offensive foul, turnover, or a bad shot. Watch Wood and you'll see them . And taking the 3 is the correct choice between long 2 and 3. - End of shotclock situations. - Completely passing on a particular play because it is not in your skill set is bad psychologically and technically. Being too predictable hurts. Showing confidence is also important. - And after all his shooting form is not horrendous or something. There is nothing that makes you think that he will eventually not be a decent 3 point shooter for his size.
Anyone can read 10 cent tea leaves that the Rockets (Silas/Patrick Fertitta) favor guards. We have Green, Christopher, Brooks, Mathews (4) after Eric Gordon, Nwaba and Augustin sit after trade deadline. Silas is big on Pace and Space. Wouldn't be surprised if Stone/Rockets/Patrick draft another 6'4" guard. Rockets will probably try to run 4 guards and a small ball center like C Wood. All 4 guards dribbling and passing. Kinda nullifies the need for Sengun great passing when everyone passes. That's Patrick's wet dream, not mine. And Sengun is not that Small Ball center. I predicted Sengun would be at 11 points per game for the season. He currently is at 9 points per game. Edited: even if Silas gets fired....Patrick Fertitta team structure will probably remain small. Guard oriented.
The Rockets in general have been favoring guard-heavy rotations since Harden was acquired. Morey and Mike both favored a 3-guard lineup and small ball as a rule. But we also thrived with a big that could play above the rim, block shots and grab boards (Capela). I wish we had him back.
That is why we as fans should wish for a killer front court to counteract. I have come around on a Ben Simmons deal.
You are not wrong; but tell me what happened with the Capela departure? Who ordered that code red? Going Small-Ball in general.....Micro-Ball? Wasn't Silas, because he wasn't around.......Patrick Fertitta? That's my guess. Morey and D'Antoni who aren't against Small-Ball as evidenced by Morey using Chuck Hayes as an undersized Center and D'Antoni looking like he was just fine with PJ Tucker in that same capacity. But i do feel both left because Tilman and son had too much pull and forced the Capela out...... Covington in scenario. --------------------------------------- Which brings us to today Rockets have brought in bigger players than what Morey and D'Antoni left behind, in the form of Theis, Sengun and Garuba. and have gone from all those 6'3" players that Patrick Fertitta likes to an upgrade to some 6'5"-ish players. Not the 6'8" players that are mobile and can defend 1-5......but oh well. Austin Rivers (6'3")................Jalen Green (6'5") because I say so. Ben McLemore (6'3").............Porter Jr. (6'6") because I say so. Michael Frazier (6'3")...........Josh Christopher (6'4") Eric Gordon (6'3")...................Eric Gordon (6'3") [same, will be traded soon] DJ Augustin (5'11")...............DJ Augustin [same, soon to be traded or sitting Chris Clemons (5'9").............Garrison Mathews (6'5") Chiozza (5'11").......................Armoni Brooks (6'3") Russell Westbrook (6'3")....T Queen (6'6") D Nix (6'4") People may not have recognized.......Rockets found their identity vs Washington this past game. After struggling all season trying to make two bigs work....and then one big......and how do we play Sengun. The Rockets tried fast pace break neck Pace while staying under control for most of the game. 1) Group rebound 2) dribble up the court fast 3) don't pass to mid court to initiate fast break and have it intercepted 4) initiate offensive set fast. **DON'T WAIT FOR DEFENSE TO SET UP** Now Porter still tends to hold on to the ball at times; but did a much better job of, "Just Going."-- draw the gravity of the offense-- kick out if need be. _____________ Fact of the matter is: the Rockets have the personnel to still win 30+ games. It would take fast pace.....because the Rockets can't go toe to toe with other teams. Even with Sengun. Teams eyes get big when Sengun enters the game. They tell themselves lace up your shoes.....let's run him off the court. Pace gets sped up. Rockets/Silas can keep substituting fresh bodies to run. Jalen Green kevin Porter Mathews Brooks Nwaba Tate Kenyon Nix Christopher T Queen Small Ball center Wood.....then Tate ________________ But Sengun will come back. Fresher.....be re-incorporated Hopefully hitting 3's again. We have to have spacing for things to work. Someone told me Sengun should play through fatigue? Or get his 9 minutes a half and run wind sprints after the game. Ride the stationary bike. [CF's] but we can't see him when he does those things Someone told me I'm not a true Rockets fan because I need to support Sengun....get Rookie of the Year. Are you not a true Rocket fan if the Rockets go all small again and not run Theis or Sengun and the Rockets excel with amazing Pace and Space? Jalen Green gets Rookie of the Year? Edited: but Im fine with the Rockets playing like they did (vs Wiz) for another week without Sengun to show me that works. Then give Sengun 26 minutes a game and "tank" again. I just want to know if I'm right. Mathews, Green, Brooks, Gordon open up a world of hurt for other teams. 3 points are greater than 2. Honestly I'm fine with Mobley winning ROTY.
