The same Jimmy Johnson also said: "I can't be writing what the rules are because my rules vary from player to player. It's like I told Lawrence: In Dallas we had a linebacker named John Roper who got cut for falling asleep in a meeting. If Troy Aikman fell asleep in a meeting, I'd go over and whisper, `Wake up, Troy.' " I'm not saying KPJ and Wood are star QBs, but they're 2 of our better assets. https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-xpm-1997-12-28-9712280008-story.html
You’re right…no other coach in the whole NBA could possibly post a better record than 26-94. You do realize that there are only 30 NBA head coaches in the whole world. It is an elite job and deserves the best of the best and Silas’ track record of many many many losing seasons as an assistant and 26-94 as a head coach is not worthy of one of the most elite jobs in the world.
The team is rebuilding and collecting lottery picks. No elite coach would take that job. Not sure why that's hard to understand.
we dont even need elite coach just someone NORMAL that doesnt do DUMB STUFF... someone who doesnt benches the best players regularly, who make players run the plays to get the ball and people in the right places... someone who doesnt play washed up bad vets over young guns in 30 pts blowouts someone who gives sengun just enough minutes to win ROY instead of playing him 5 minutes a game because thesis(washed up scrub) was 'playing good'... see how hard it is to defend dumb stuff silas does because hes not even good for tanking let alone winning team what he does is so dumb that your argument that was supposedly put out in his defense ended up losing you the case....
That doesnt prove or disprove anything so theres no point in bringing it up. The only thing that proves is that there are a lot of members here and there's bound to be atleast one who doesnt like a certain coach. That doesnt mean Cialis is a good coach.
Yep, just an amusing observation. Feel free to ignore. I was just explaining to my wife how this BBS is amazing because of the high-quality dialogue. Wasn't a big fan of Jim Rome but I liked his "have a take and don't suck" mantra. This thread sucks. This team is obviously tanking. By that measure, Silas is excelling. Why is that hard to accept?
ts in the rookies as the season goes on. U could still b bad at your job and accomplish the mission at hand. Silas mission is probably to tank and develop the rookies. He is losing by not playing the rookies but the vets. Although it is true the rookies are showing great improvement, to the eyes of some he isn't doing enough. Parking green in the corner while letting theis shoot more 3s is awful coaching, sengun mins not being enough (debatable). Lack of locker room control. If u want to solely grade him on being able to lose consistently, he is good at his job. If u want to grade him on the additional objectives he's not doing so great
The anything goes approach because we're not winning is not a thing you want accept unless you want to be the Knicks or the Pacers for the next ten years.
So you injected the second objective. We don't actually know what his objectives are. It would be nice if he develops rookies but we don't know the approach. Maybe the approach is to maintain trade value for the vets? We can't make meaningful trades if we bench those dudes. Seguin himself said he feels his playing time is fair. They are clearly learning the ropes of the NBA. Who actually cares about winning ROTY? It's meaningless. During a rebuild, you are thinking 2-5 years later. So what's wrong with bringing guys along more slowly while maintaining trade value? I'm excited cause clearly the team has potential and are fun to watch but I have no delusions that they'll make any waves this year or next. Virtually every team that wins a championship, the average age of the team is like 30+. We have a long way to go. I'm not worried about Silas in the least bit.
I guess everyone has their viewpoint on how a tank should b done. Losing intentionally anyone could do it, its the ability to do additional things. If u believe he is raising the value of vets to get trade value he is doing quite a sht job at it tbh especially with the wood/kpj incideent
Fair point but the jury is still out. But I agree that's not a good look. Might just be a minor bump in the road. I don't think anybody is holding Silas responsible for KPJ's behavior as that's well documented. The final word will be what we get in return if/when Wood gets traded.
What part of rebuilding (tanking) do you NOT understand? Silas is not supposed 2 be taking us to a championship with this roster.
You’re right let’s just be happy having teams the next 10 years that perform similar to what Paul Silas’ teams did in the 2000s. He was a mesiocre to awful coach who never accomplish anything memorable except for having the worst single season record of all time. Losing begets losing and the soft charmin culture of Silas junior will damage these kids permanently with bad habits.
