I even saw Kyle Koerver after he hit 8 3s. "Oh great so we used our #2 pick for a spot up shooter"

Green is slowly proving the Green gang right and starting to pick up his game right before the ASB. He can still make a run for ROY if he keeps this up and learns to play defense.

Gotta love a 19 year old, hitting big shots, not many have that trait.

I thought he couldn’t finish at the rim though? JG haters will say if he wasn’t so skinny, didn’t have a ponytail, and didn’t paint his nails he’d be in the 93rd percentile.

By and large, this is the most frustrating thing to me. Seeing him go 3-5 in the first quarter and then not taking a shot for another 10 minutes is beyond frustrating. If he's feeling it, he should be putting up 20-25 shots a night.

I know one thing the Rockets are working on with him is efficiency with shot selection. And I know that fans may not be prepared to watch a volume shooter after years of Harden, but I hope we can get Green up to 20 quality shots a night and soon.

He could easily put up 22-23 ppg by the end of the year if he gets up to that many shots a night.

Ya and people need to realize how impressive that is for a 19 year old rookie.

He's already outperforming where Beal, Edwards and Lavine were at during this specific part of their rookie years.

Game by game it seems more like he is deserving of that number 2 overall selection.

i guess this is coaching - and it might help him. He was shooting too much early on, now the restrained Green is working at a high efficiency. Now they should increase his looks slowly.

I really think he can lead all rookies in scoring and get the RotY trophy if he keeps working and slowly improving. He should work on his playmaking next - defense after that.

I think the scoring is great. I think he could do more of it, though.

He's doing very well and has tons of room for improvement.

Btw the wording of my post you quoted is weird because I accidentally typed "you" instead of "ya" at the beginning which makes it seems like in directing my complaint to you when I wasn't. So my bad if the post seems confrontational. It was typing mistake.

Yet there were only 2 pick an roll plays for him. P&R has always worked since the beginning of time.

Did anyone else notice Green's confidence in his handles is increasing along with the tightness?

This last game in particular you can see him battling out better against defenders when he initially beats them and is side by side with them. That's when in the beginning of the season he would often get the ball stripped or be pushed out and veered of course. Now he's dribbling with authority and actually using his off arm to battle off defenders better. I can especially remember that play where he went by Campazzo and Campazzo was aggressively reaching in trying to steal the ball but Green kept his ground and kept the dribble alive and was rewarded with a foul call in his favor. I think at the beginning of the season that ball would have been successfully stripped.

He'll be in there but it's going to be hard to beat Mobley at this point especially since Mobley's team could be in the playoffs.

Some of you that love per 36 for YOUR favorite rookies may not like this but Green now leads all rooks with an 18 pts per 36. No pg to set him up for bunnies 4 ft from the basket either.

He's tied for second in scoring with Scottie. Come on Scottie and Jalen, you can't let someone named Franz lead the way!

If he keeps this current level of play he could beat him out because it's pretty damn impressive. 23 ppg on elite ts%. That gets you rookie of the year almost every year outside of a unicorn Lebron type rookie year.

But I doubt this exact level of play is sustainable due to the really high 3pt fg% lately which isn't even sustainable for Steph Curry. So I see him firmly getting second place as he'll fall in-between his current level of play and how he played at the beginning of the season as the sustainable parts such as his increased confidence in his handles and tightness in them will carry over.
