Satisfactory return for trading Wood

  1. 1 First round pick (potentially late): done with Wood, can accept lower than expected return

  2. 2 FRPs: that's the fair market value of C Wood

  3. 2 FRP + Young player: C Wood can be an all star, no way trading him without great return

I think we may value Wood too much. He is a guy that has put up numbers on terrible teams but never on a team that wins even at a mediocre level.

I thought we could have gotten a really decent first in the last draft (Charlotte or Sacramento), but that looks like a pretty big missed opportunity.

Hard to imagine we would get anything close to that now.

The last option, but a realistic version.

By letting him run amuck he has tanked his trading value - I think we are stuck with him now.

You’re probably right. We will likely need to attach some value to Wood to get a return of real significance. I could see a team with aspirations of going deep in the playoffs wanting Gordon badly, who’s clearly a real difference maker, also having use for Wood on their bench considering Wood’s contract. With COVID wrecking havoc with lineups, Wood could have real value at the 4/5.

If moving Gordon works better without Wood (which wouldn’t surprise me), or we want to keep him, Tate obviously has real value for a team going into the post-season. I would hate to lose Tate, but you have give to get. Maybe Stone can work some magic and get a good young player, an expiring, and a future 1st with less than egregious protections. Certainly for Gordon/Wood. Maybe for Tate/Wood?

KPJ is an entirely different can of worms.
