Welp I finally got it. I suspected as much as I started coughing on Monday and then had mild symptoms of a cold. I suspected something wasn't normal since the symptoms started mild and stayed fairly mild, unlike my typical experience with a cold where the symptoms gradually get worse until they get better. I'm thanking the fact that I have the vaccine for the mildness of the symptoms. Got my rapid test today which resulted in a positive. At this point I think everyone is going to get it one way or the other.

Odd how hospitalizations and deaths have followed the same path all throughout this pandemic. Apparently, if we just didn't test people, they wouldn't get sick or die. Brilliant! P.S. This is why people look at positivity rate as well as case #'s. In your version of reality, positivity rate would stay flat or more likely go down as you test more non-sick people. In the actual reality, it does just the opposite. This is the problem when you get your science knowledge from Twitter or Youtube videos.
At what point is it just everywhere and defeat is accepted? Most daily cases ever with most number of people having immunity or vaccines in them. There is obviously no political or societal will for lockdowns anymore. Anti vaxxers are completely dug in. We are where we are. I don't see anything changing these repeated waves.

What does defeat mean to you? Stop trying to stop it? Let hospitals fill up even more so more people die of other causes because our health care system fails? As long as the health care system is at risk, I imagine no one is going to just quit trying to stop or slow this. The whole point of lockdowns and social distancing from the start was to keep the health care system from failing, rather than to get cases to zero.
Yes, more testing gives us a more accurate number of infections. That doesn’t mean we should not test. It means we need more testing. If people know they are infected, then they know they need to isolate themselves. I have an idea. Why don’t you just watch the number of hospitalizations. The amount of testing doesn’t really change the number of hospitalizations. If you are sick enough, you get admitted to the hospital. Of course, vaccines can help prevent hospitalizations. Why is this so hard for you to understand? Maybe you don’t want to understand.
