I see Green getting gradually incorporated into the flow of the offense. Green has to believe he belongs, before he can take the next jump. He’s still too susceptible to digging himself into frustration when shots or plays don’t go his way.

When Green doubt himself, he will waddle in mediocrity. So, recognizing his own emotional cognitive while playing, will deter him from being apt to wallowing in extended shooting slumps.

Green is impressive, but he has been humbled by the speed of the defenders and their strength. Which I attribute to him being gun shy when attacking the basket.

Though, I see Green more as a scorers scorer than a all around triple double guy. Basically a Twenty plus points scorer, to go along with maybe 2 or 3 rebounds and 2 or 3 assists!

Mobley was originally the guy most experts had going to the Rockets, before Green snuck into the conversation regarding #2.

So Mobley having a better career is not out of the question. But Green showed enough of the “it” factor to steer the Rockets into taking him, even though they already had KPJ on the team.

Under 2 assists for any guard at any level is pathetic

his stats right now only show he is a selfish chucker. The good thing is that he is still young

the bad news is next years draft is looking to be worse than 2021

Oh and anyone who second guesses the Rockets, is doing so as an arm rest quarterback.

I’d like to think the Rockets have competent people running the show in terms of evaluating talent.

If the Rockets went for the “IT” factor, you have to commend them. Because as fellas have the spark of greatness, they also have the all or nothing mentality.

This draft was a dare to be great, vs going for the safe option. Though a safe boring pick at #3 is nothing to sneeze at, when the pick is Mobley. Nonetheless, the Rockets made their choice, and will be mocked or justified upon the development of Green.

Right now it’s about nurturing Greens confidence and growing his body to take the NBA punishment is paramount.

LOL - the world is littered with competent people that were terrible at the job of GM - so many failed to evaluate properly - and Stone will live or die career wise based upon this draft.

I don't trust him anymore than anyone else....there are plenty of people NOT in GM positions that know a ton about basketball.

So far, I like this draft a lot, so he is doing fine, but it is a what have you done for me lately position......nature of the beast.

You should go look at how many assists James Haden averaged his rookie and sophomore seasons. Then go look at Kobe’s sophomore season. If you still have time, go check out Devin Booker, Zach Lavine, and Bradley Beal’s rookie seasons. Tell me how many assists they all averaged.

SGs don't average a lot of assists, because their job is to SHOOT....thus the name ...SHOOTING guards.

I just wanted to point out the fallacy in the assertion that averaging 2 assists per game as a rookie shooting guard is some sort of indictment against a player. These guys were not burdened with the role as primary facilitators early in their careers and their roles were more limited, but all showed growth and improvement at varying degrees over time as secondary ball handlers and distributors as they grew into their games. Harden being the sole outlier as he became the primary ball handler and point guard.

Sometimes you have to put it out there for the casuals in a LCD format.

I mean the fact of the matter is, just about every all star shooting guard in the NBA RIGHT NOW including James Harden only averaged around 2 or 3 assists per game in their rookie seasons lol. They assume larger roles in the offense as their games mature.

I don't get this narrative about Jalen being afraid to drive in. He avg the 3rd most drives on our team. Only KPJ and EG (who barely drives in more than JG) drives in more. That's it

    Ever heard of Positionless basketball?

So every small forward is Small?

    Every Power forward has power?

    Every Center plays central?

There is no narrative, but if you must, it is clear he prefers 3 pt shooting over 2 pt shots and layups.

You can see it from his game highlights and shot selections.

1.8 for those that are wondering. Although Harden did avg 8 minutes less than JG, but he was also 1 year older and had better players next to him.
