I lean slightly more Turner right now. He's a bit more defense, whereas Sabonis is more of an offense/playmaker for Pacers. Sabonis could also be overlapping with Sengun in skillset. Turner could be younger better version of Theis. A defensive anchor allows Silas more option on defense.

In Pacer's fire sale, they won't sell both bigs. If we see another team gets one of Sabonis or Turner, it's likely Pacers will keep the other guy. So there's a window.

Both buys similar age, both 6'11', and makes about the same money ($17m - $19m range).

The fact that Sabonis and Turner are on the market; (more supply), it could affect team's offers for Wood.

I had been defending Wood more often than not ..... mainly because of his stats & shooting splits (20/10/37%) while some others argued that those were empty stats

Lately I've really soured on him, really started in the Chicago game where he left EG hung out to dry on 4 straight possessions having to guard a big man in the post to start the game while he did everything he could to avoid switching onto Vucevic & the Rockets were down 9-0 in those first 4 possessions.

Video and Shotcharts | Stats | NBA.com (click here for the video)

He did the same crap early on in the Pacers game .... allowing Turner two dunks a layup & 4 rebounds in the first 3 minutes.

When he's the lone big man on the floor he's got to take on that challenge, not leave it to EG or Green to defend big men down low. Remember that's why they signed Theis in the offseason, because Wood didn't want to defend 5's.

He might put up unicorn stats offensively, but I can't defend him when he's gonna pull that crap on the defensive end.
When Stone clears the decks before the deadline Wood needs to be one of those parts moving out the door if he's gonna continue that crap. No way you can pay that guy max money or call him the leader of this team.

They are not fire selling, it is a ruse, once they get their full team back and go their 7th or Play in path, they are holding onto their assets.

    The probability is there.

They should not have gone with Carlisle but a younger coach.

    Is he gone yet?

Is he tweeting @rooshwilliams about his free throws? “KeEp ThAt SaMe EnErGy!”

*The way some of y’all feel about Eric Gordon or previously Danuel House, I feel about Christian Wood. :D

He is probably one of the worst 19 and 11 players .......if that makes any sense.

I see we’ve got another “get rid of Wood” thread

I’ve been preaching that for over a year

Is Wood any better than Vucevic? No. Would u pay Vuc big money even if he was Wood’s age? Hell No

Is Wood better than Sabonis? No. Would u want to pay Sabonis big money?

Wood is happy as long as he gets his numbers, and if he doesn’t, he’ll start crying about needing the ball more

never seen a dude smile while down 20 as much as him

I'd trade him for two picks now.

The worst is when he flexes after a dunk like he's some big player even though we're ass and getting stuffed most of the time. It's like he lives in a fantasy where he's a proven long time beast player instead of the reality of an undrafted journeyman who struggles to get a regular position on a team in the league.

I really like the idea of turning Wood and Gordon into Turner somehow. Turner is a great 5 for a year or two unti Alp is ready and IMO theyd be fine together for 15 min a game.

Somebody said he’s a big man version of Kevin Martin. I felt that in my soul. Kevin Martin put up the most hollow 20 plus points per game I’ve ever seen from a Houston Rockets player. Imagine trading Kevin Martin for a guy in James Harden that averaged less points per game, but actually getting a guy that significantly impacted the game and winning more. I remember some posters being pissed we traded Martin, Jeremy Lamb, two 1st round picks, and a 2nd rounder for a 6th man.

Kevin Martin’s advanced stats always told the real story that his boxscore stats often masked. Wood’s boxscore statistics don’t tell the full story.

Jaren Jackson Jr is such a perfect frontcourt partner for Sengun, wonder if we can nab him for Wood.

    The 2 Kmarts.

Kevin Martin Wood and Kenyon Martin Junior.

I have to break a lance for Kevin Martin, he had his best shooting years with Sactown and Oklahoma City.

People knew who he was, a good scorer but not really a star who could carry a team - 38% career 3 pt shooter.

To be honest, they thought Jeremy Lamb would blow up and he did not.

Picks for OKC: Steven Adams, Abrines, Mitch McGary

Wood and Turner are in the same timeline continuum and the Pacers want to go into the future with younger players. You could probably get Turner for Garuba+ Josh + DJ salary+ Brooklyn pick.
That's something Indiana would go for.

It's a good discussion because the Rockets have to decide very soon what they're going to do with some Wood.

I haven’t watched JJJ in a while . Does he still have his athleticism?

obnoxiously, the two fits I want next to sengun the most are Barnes and Mobley ... but still too early . Even for the sengun hype .

but he’s pretty productive and smart for a rookie .

other good fits ? : garuba , Brandon Ingram , Roco, onyeka onkongwe , Julius randle , giannis lmao

I think a 6’8-6’9 PF with long arms who is an excellent defensive helper and can shoot is the prototype .

Sengun isn’t good enough yet to justify getting a top player at that position . Idk yet .

I think JJJ is starting to be seen as a non-franchise player but his defense, rim protection and 3pt shooting have remained very good. Below average rebounder but I think between him and Sengun they’re good.

Would not pay him the max yet though. The Grizzlies may not want to pay him if he’s not a franchise player.

Upping my offer to Chicago: Wood, Tate and Miami pick to Chicago for Patrick Williams and Coby White.

    1 - KPJ/White
    2 - Green/Christopher
    3 - Martin/Mathews
    4 - Williams/Keegan Murray
    5 - Sengun/Garuba

If he gets moved, here's the type of trade I see him moving in:

    Sixers get:
    CJ McCollum, C Wood

    Portland gets:
    Ben Simmons, Danny Green

    Houston gets:
    Nasir Little
Robert Covington (expiring salary, buyout candidate)
    Sixers FRP (unprotected) 2023
    Sixers Swap 2024
Trail Blazers (protected, top-5) FRP 2023

Something like that. As I see it, most teams will not give the Sixers back what they want in assets, especially for a win-now team. Our role as facilitators, which is being reported already, would be to sweeten their return in exchange for picks. The picks they send to us is less than what Vucevic got the Magic, but we get the added pick from the other team in the deal so we get more, plus in this scenario we get a young prospect in Nasir Little who is only 21 years old and fits our rebuild TL.

So in effect, we're sending out C Wood for Nasir Little, an expiring RoCo, two 2023 FRPs, and a 2024 swap which would include the Nets pick which might get us a few spots up in that draft. Portland gets Simmons and a playoff-ready Green for McCollum, RoCo (who is already on the trade block and wont be re-signed), Little, and a 2023 FRP. The Sixers get McCollum and C Wood which for them is as close to a dream-come-true return for Simmons, Green, one FRP, and one swap (which, barring unforeseen circumstances, will probably only mean moving back a few picks).

Admittedly it's not perfect. Ideally, you want to trade C Wood to a team where your pick is much higher than sending him out for two FRPs in the 20s (Portland's might end up in the teens), but Little isn't a bad player, and the overall return is a respectable one.
