The thing that made Kobe Kobe during his athletic prime is something that Green shows flashes of that JC just doesn't have and that's fluidity with his athleticism. For example look at literally JG's first scored bucket in a NBA regular season game where he double clutched reversed in the air with great body control.

Kobe didn't even have a mid range fadeaway at least one that anyone would call anywhere near consistent at 19. He was an impressive athlete with really fluid body control.

JC reminds me more of Harden. He has more mass and when he hits his athletic prime I can see him bully balling his way into the paint similar to Harden and to a lesser extent EG.

It’s fun and interesting to compare players to past ones. Why though compare players to a top 20 player? Seems like a fruitless endeavor.

Looking at a more in reach comparison with Lavine, his complete rookie year he averaged 4 ppg less than Green's current rookie campaign on worse efg%.

Green is off to a better start than someone who is a top 10 player in the league today and leading their team to a near top record in the entire league. So that's a good sign.

To be more accurate, Derozan has been actually leading the Bulls, first year on a new team, new city, guy with some mental illness.

Great dude who stepped out of the shadows of Lebron in the East.

Lavine and the oldest Ball have been sharpshooting.

Tons of dudes shooting around or over 40%.

yeah, that’s true, you’re correct. JG has that, and no matter what happens he’ll be in the league for a long time, even if he busts, the allure of his athletic ability will get him several NBA contracts.

JC’s comp is a taller and more athletic Lowry, I’ve said this quite a few times. The Kobe sims are just these two nuggets that I mentioned: the fadeaway (which is older Kobe, you’re right) and the boneheaded Young Kobe summer league.

I like that green actually gets visibly upset when he fks up on defense. It's a sign that he wants 2 get better and acknowledges that he was at fault

Also if we’re being fair, we can point at several plays other guys made that were examples of extremely poor defense. JG got caught ball watching a few times, Wood was guilty of this several times as well, Sengun was out on the perimeter reaching on Stanley Johnson and getting worked over instead of playing solid positional defense, Josh sometimes get over aggressive at the point of attack and gets blown by, etc. There is more than enough defensive finger pointing to go around when you give up over 130 points to where it makes no sense to be focusing on one guy’s handful of brain farts.

I would too, every single time. People can bang on about 2 way players or unicorns or defensive specialists as much as they want, I'll take a potential top scorer in the league every time. I don't see Mobley ever coming close to be a top scorer in the league.

Green is still 19 years old, and needs to get stronger and improve his defense. Even he mentioned that after he got drafted; so this is of no surprise to the Rockets organization.

Rushing to call him a bust is too hasty as of now. Especially when he has shown some legit improvements getting closer to a scorers mindset.

He may never be a lockdown defender, but if he’s willing to work at his team defense, I’m sure the Rockets would be ecstatic.

I'd be really excited about him if they gave him the ****ing ball. Silas is an elite when it comes to going away from what's working.

I want to see how he really is when he's fully unleashed. You can tell he's been held back by the team and by Silas. Wish he had more opportunity here. I also hate the fact that he accepts his role just because he is a rookie. I want to see him be more of an alpha and demand the ball instead of waiting in the corner. Jalen is really special, he is so dangerous when he has room to operate.

Early on struggles was mainly on Silas.

As a rookie it's not wrong to defer the balls to the vets. It's just that deferring the ball to everyone with seniority is dumb. Wood should never ever ball handler, him beaming a fan with a pass shows how bad he is at it. Green probably would have scored more if he was more selfish

I think he's just really trying to figure out how to finish in the NBA. He struggled early on during his Covid shortened G League stint, but I think the increased physicality this year due to the officiating is a subtle factor. He will need to figure out how to be more crafty through hesitation and improved handles while getting stronger. His first step is undeniable.

I don't expect him to the run the offense but his two man game and ability to drive and dish is promising.

I understand that but to be fair how many "vets" do we really have that's getting minutes? I wish he would get the ball more. What really gets me is when he has the hot hand the team goes away from him lol. Jalen is way too unselfish.

Much of this is on the players too. He's sharing the court with Wood, Christoper, KPJ, and EG. KPJ is steadily improving, but a lot of Jalen's teammates play with intense tunnel-vision.
