Defensive monster. I love him, but never really thought he’d make it in the NBA. He’ll smother you on defense though. He’s a dog for sure.
Yea, as much as I loved him as a coog, I didn’t think he had a career in the NBA. Hopefully he can show out when he’s on the court
Well at least we know Tilman isn't quite as cheap as people say he is if he's willing to pay extra money for a player when he already has 40m of player sat on the bench.
I've watched this kid over the course of his career starting at UMass and during his years at UH. His shot has improved quite a bit but still has a ways to go in terms long range consistency. Offensively he has a nice floater and can get to the rack using his athleticism as a rangy 6'5" guard. Where this kid makes his mark is on the defensive end. He's a tenacious on-ball defender and quick to recover one on one. I would love to see him stick with the Rockets as a PG.
Tilman Fertitta likely doesn’t mind spending extra cash specifically for players who played their home games in the Fertitta center
Rockets Sign DeJon Jarreau to 10-Day Contract HOUSTON – The Houston Rockets today announced they signed guard DeJon “Deeky” Jarreau (DAY-zhon juh-ROE) to a 10-day contract using a hardship exemption. He will wear No. 33 for the Rockets. Jarreau (6-5, 185) was eligible for the 2021 NBA Draft following his senior season at the University of Houston. After averaging 11.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 5.8 assists for Miami during NBA Summer League, Jarreau signed as a two-way player with Indiana on Aug. 24. The New Orleans native appeared in one game for the Pacers and 10 games while assigned to their NBA G League affiliate, Fort Wayne. He averaged 9.7 points, 4.3 assists, and 3.9 rebounds for the Mad Ants while shooting 38.1% from 3-point range. Jarreau earned American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year honors in his final season with the Cougars and helped lead the team to the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament.
But he's cool with wasting 40m a year for Wall to sit on the bench in street clothes. Definitely not the actions of somebody who's cheap.
He’s not a great shooter. He scores on drives, kicking out to open shooters, and as a last resort if he has the open 3. He’s a dog on defense. If he improves his shot he’ll have a much better chance to stay in the NBA.
full disclosure - I’m a Coog so I just love it for what it is. Deeky and Brooks are teammates from the recent Final Four Coog team now playing for my Rockets. Happy to see them together if even for 10 days.
