Nah it was the right move. What if we couldn’t trade him it would have been another player that we couldn’t move. We gave an offer to both PJ and Oladipo. We were fortunate enough to dodge two bullets since they declined the offers. We still have Eric and Wall’s contract.
What does this even mean? This thread has a bunch of people arguing on both sides of this issue. Which side is "clutchfans" here?
the fact that "a bunch of people" arguing it was a good move to swap a 23 year old averaging 17 and 10 on a playoff team for a bad pick and an expiring contract in oladipo is "classic clutchfans" For reference deandre ayton is also averaging 17 and 10 and is the same age btw
the cavs have the same timeline as us except they just have flat out more talent and potential. They are rebuilding just fine
Wood is more versatile. Period. Why would anyone pay extra when not competing anytime soon. This is a good thing from a team aspect. As soon as we are cashed strapped with mediocre players barely making the play in everyone will be crying what an incompetent organization this is blah blah blah...If Allen was anything to build around they wouldn't have drafted Mobley. Allen is better defensively but that's it. If we had a chance to compete it would be fine we not even there yet we are still rebuilding. Those who cry Tilman didn't go over the tax when we were contenders are Harden apologist. Who exactly were we suppose to pay to go over the luxury tax? Ariza? LMFAO The man who couldn't hit a 3 to save his or the Rockets life? Tucker just so he wouldn't call us lame? Maybe a 3rd star Harden wouldn't chase away? Oh wait, thats right! No one wanted to play with Harden. So much so he knew he had to leave because no one! Literally no one was coming after that stunt with CP3 and his supposed friend Westbrick.
We lost Harden last season. Cavs lost Lebron in 2018. They have been rebuilding longer with many more high draft picks. They switched to competing this off-season with the money they spent.
Also they fail to mention the parameters of the trade. Which talking heads can speculate Allen was available to the Rockets when it's only half true. He was available to be traded from Brooklyn but that doesn't mean he was available to the Rockets. One of the prerequisites from Cleveland was that they receive Allen. Especially considering they gift wrapped KPJ for us. Nothing wrong with being frugal folks. Sometimes the answer is not Tilman is cheap. Who would have thought?
their franchise players are going to be evan mobley and garland who are the same age as our core. At the end of the day you dont pass up on young talent when you rebuild
That doesn’t somehow wave away the fact they’ve been rebuilding longer. You act like we would have paid him like the Cavs would have when we are pretty close to the cap already. to edit: per the OP we didn’t get Allen because of luxury tax. So it’s really a moot point about Allen. We also got KPJ out the deal too.
even if you want to build around jalen green youre probably going to want someone with allens skillset to go with him eventually
