The 2 hr SNL skit was exactly how I described it to my wife while watching. It had some silly/funny moments but was far too on the nose with it's satire to be laugh out loud funny. They didn't even attempt to leave much there for someone on the other side of the aisle to enjoy the movie.
It's crazy how polarizing this movie is. People usually say something is political if only the right is the one being made fun of, but everyone was the butt of the joke in this film including liberal media and celebrities.
This movie is terrible and unfunny. Leo was ok tho. But seriously I wanted to turn it off after the 1 hr mark.
I enjoyed the movie by the way. just to be clear. I was just pointing out that everybody got heat in the movie which is probably why the rotten tomatoes is in the 50's. people really in their feelings and cant see the satire in the film even if it rings true in reality.
Watched it while home with the family. Funny stuff. Gave me Idiocracy vibes. The 2 maga heads in the family left halfway through and whined about it.
just slow and cartoony, for example the Ariana Grande bit was just kinda cringey and went on for too long. The movie is 2:23? and seems like it could easily be 90 or 100 minutes without losing much. I suppose we’ll go back and finish it but the first hour was disappointing
You missed the side Boob during the coming deep-impact sex btw: when ppl ask how I want to die, end of the World is it — although, I say, Death by Supernova.
Trump never would have said the comet is 9km wide. He would have used miles, then said it’s more bigly than Atlanta where my election was stolen.
A better and more realistic ending would be that there was another billionaire who had another set of drones that successfully stopped the comet and used it for natural resources
This is the one where Jodie Foster and Matthew McCaunahey find the blue prints left by the aliens to destroy the comet
I agree with the comments that it was too long. It could've cut out a lot of the weaker satire. It was a decent movie, very strong parallels to modern society. Jonah Hill's dialogue was too obnoxious. The movie needs better editing and refinement.
Saw this over the break; I wanted to stop the movie 30 min into it. It was just too weird and wasn't what I was expecting. It was too on the nose like everyone said and I love Jonah Hill and Leo. That being said, I powered through it. It had it's moments but it felt like humor they were trying to spell out for you, like they were trying to make fun of themselves too hard. Succession is great and I thought Mckay would be better but apparently Mckay doesn't do any of the writing for Succession. Ariana Grande; ugh if I never see her again, it wouldn't ever bother me. Her and Kid Cudi were just useless in the movie. Timothe was pretty funny especially after seeing his character in Dune.
