I agree with you in terms of Augustin has value as a role player, and your evaluation of the situations he could shine in. The point I was making (and the whole exchange you replied to) was that if we're talking about a veteran presence for our youth to learn from, Gordon is infinitely more valuable than Augustin is, ESPECIALLY with who our youth players are. Christopher especially looks like he could have a lot of similar traits to EG as he matures, similar frame, potentially good D, getting better from deep. The tricks he can pick up playing with and against Gordon would be a big boost to his game. For me, I'm only trading EG if a literal "offer you can't refuse" comes in, anything less and he's worth more to us for his mentorship alone, nevermind that he's our most consistent active player and gives us the ability for our team of youngsters not to get embarrassed every time they step on the court.

Haha and someone had enough indecency in their heart to call you out on your fandom.

Seems like @withmustard pays more attention than his fan accusers…

I enjoyed the read. Thanks! Here's how it ends:

The writing on the wall is every contender in the league will covet Gordon. It is a matter of time before he is traded, not because he is a bad player, but because he could be the missing piece to a championship team this year. Whatever happens, Gordon is one of the best players to put on a Rockets uniform in the last 20 years and should never be forgotten by Rockets fans.

I get what you're saying. I was just saying that I've always really liked DJ's game and efficiency. Gordon is in a different tier than DJ obviously. I will say that I would move EG for far less than "an offer I couldn't refuse". I would move him for 80 cents on the dollar. I don't see what can be gained by keeping him, other than mentorship. We have Matthews, Brooks, JC, EG, Green and KPJ. We also have a decent amount of picks coming in the next few years, not mention this FO's ability to obtain players like Tate, Matthews, Brooks and KMJ out of nowhere. Don't forget about any potential guards we take back from John Wall trade if that ever materializes.

I appreciate your perspective in valuing Gordon right now for keeping the team from being on Orlando or Detroit's level, but these moral victories may not translate to victories and team development as much as new talent will. Gordon should have been traded yesterday and at the least, he should be moved because the team has tried to accommodate almost every player they have let go to allow them to play on a team they prefer. We did it for Harden, PJ, Boogie, Westbrook and Oladipo last year alone.

Someone like Christopher can learn a lot from Gordon, but that doesn't come close to what he'll learn playing Gordon's minutes.

I don’t mind Gordon as a mentor and have even said I don’t mind us keeping him beyond this season if we can’t find a trade for him, but ultimately we’ll still have to trade him because he has the second biggest contract on the team. We’re already probably going to have to waive Wall and swallow his contract for a season because no team has shown interest in trading for him and what if Gordon comes into next season as a even worse version of himself? Now your stuck with that contract when you had the chance to get off of it a season ago. Also I would agree more with what your saying about team continuity if we still had Morey/MDA but since they left we have a bit of a different culture or rather a lack of a culture and trying to figure out what it will be.

I like how you don’t address my points and gloss over the facts I presented tho, lol at this point your just fanboying

Your the one that asked me to post quotes of potential trades and or him demanding a trade. And way to miss the point, It doesn’t matter if the Pacers wanted him or not, that wasn’t the point of me showing it. My point is that the Rockets have already tried trading him so what makes you think they won’t try again? and that trade was reported by Shams who’s just as credible as Woj, I just took it from Blecher Report. And I brought up the Gordon post to basically show that even though he hasn’t demanded a trade that he’s not against it. And don’t worry I won’t respond to you again clearly your a huge Gordon fan and getting overly protective and defensive of him when people say he should be traded

I really like Gordon, but the time to trade him is now. Just do him a solid and trade him to a contender he wants to join, and get some good draft assets back, maybe in a 3-way.

    Free the rookies!

And if Silas doesn't play them/doesn't teach them properly, it's time for him to go. If he does it, fine, he can stay.

    *you're

Yeah I asked for a quote of him demanding a trade and you posted something where he said something other than "I demand a trade." We're ALL CLEAR on the facts here.

    Am fan.

    Made thread.

    Keep Gordon.

This man has caused myself and others such great mental anguish watching him fumble and flail around in the playoffs for multiple years to the point that my happiness in life legitimately decreased a good one percentage point knowing he was even still on the team, and therefore I could never agree with nor begin to understand not absolutely positively (FINALLY) trading him at this year's deadline.

Ive been saying this!! Thought I was the only one that wanted EG to stay. I think his leadership and longevity on the team is way more valuable than a mid to late first round pick or a mid young prospect. But if he wants to go to a contender I want the team to do right by him and send him wherever he wants.
