So far been passing my daily tests here in Singapore (knock on wood) even the one that I had to take at their testing center where it was just a the same rapid tests I do at home but they wanted to watch me do it. Singapore's other restrictions are you require a digital app showing your vaccination status to enter restaurants, bars, and shopping malls. You're also supposed to scan a QR code for the tracing app. I've noticed enforcement is very haphazard on those and at many of the smaller venues they haven't followed through. For a traveler they've been emailing me reminders daily to take my tests and report the results online. They've even called. Otherwise can still go out and engage in the great Singaporean traditions of shopping and eating. Was at a shopping mall last night and it wasn't packed but was full. In some of the areas frequented by tourists it's pretty dead.
It worked! Much appreciated, @rimbaud. If only the numerous members who post in a fashion similar to Fatty's would take a little time and post good, honest information backing up their claims. Far too many don't bother, or won't because they can't.
Is diarrhea a symptom of omnicron? My wife and I have it with no other symptoms. We both got jabbed in July/August.
It was a symptom of the original strains but if you look up the symptom charts on Omicron it’s pretty far down the list. There are tons of nasty bugs going around right now, including norovirus.
It was cited on something I watched recently. Do you have any data showing any correlation between mask-wearing and its effectiveness? We just had a ton of super-spreader events this past year. Thanks in advance.
Google is certainly not my friend these days. But it was a clinical doctor who stated it. Moreover, there has never been a correlation of mask usage to contraction of Covid. Also, SARS, which was Covid-02, both of which were named after the year they were identified, was shown to come through plumbing. Now, unless Covid-19, 20 or 21 has grown bigger in particles, it shows that the coronavirus has always been able to infect us, no matter what we tried to do. A face diaper has helped to make people "feel" safe. Nothing more. Kinda like Duck & Cover...
There have been plenty of correlations of reduced transmission and cases with masks, but correlations aren't direct evidence. It's very hard to study mask impact since it's nearly impossible to have a good control group. But the few that did try to in a clever way do show masks having a small to big impact (15% would be in the range). Of course, these are studies with non-fitted n95 mask wear by the general population. N95 is what you want to use for airborne viruses.
@rimbaud posted multiple links about just that. One's a couple of posts above where you posted, at least on my monitor, and another is on the previous page. Check it out. Masks make a huge difference. Nothing prevents catching it 100%, except perhaps an N95 that are used by doctors and nurses, if they are available and being used properly, but masks make a major difference in preventing someone getting Covid-19, or someone giving it to another. There have been multiple instances of people being contagious with Covid-19, not being aware of it then and exposing others, including family members, to the virus.
Show me correllation. There is none. This isn't science. We need correllation of data. And we have literally months upon months of it.
I for one am glad this is how it ends. But I've also been wrong about the end of this too many times.
That's what I'm crossing my fingers for, so long as it continues to evolve into weaker and more contagious variants, things are headed in the right direction.
Is it not possible for it to mutate into more contagious and stronger variants? Seems like a toss up, no?
