I liked 2 a lot more than 3, but I often found myself defending the 3rd one because there is still good things about it even though it's clearly the worst of the first 3. This one makes the 3rd one look like Citizen Kane by comparison.
I hope the movie isn't worse than that review. 9 mins of "this was a terrible movie". My understanding is this was not going to be anything like the Matrix trilogy.
I agree to a point...I think they got too 'smart' for their own success. I think that what we see over the course of the Wachowskis' career is also a journal of their existential journey (except for maybe Speed Racer), and The Matrix 1 was just the coolest, most relatable part to broader audiences. If you track their very 'different' lifestyle choices over the years, you can tie it together. I really liked Sense8 but I can see how it was just too over the top sexually for most average viewers to accept. Speed Racer was fun but it was just too crazy. I guess Netflix should have learned from that one with Cowboy Bebop.
Meta Polarizing Deceptive This is things that come before someone says it is "Too Smart" for the Plebs (Which I hate cause that means it is pretentious bullshit ) Rocket River
Seriously what have they made since the the first Matrix that has been good? Cloud Atlas (for instance) is watchable but was a major miss for watch they were trying to achieve.
I'll watch it either way this week. So far on Rotten Tomatoes, it's got a 69% from critics. Not horrible, but no one's gonna confuse this with The Dark Knight anytime soon. I'm a Matrix fan
I actually liked it. Better than Revolutions and the Zion parts of Reloaded. Like the reviews stated its very meta which was super funny I thought. Regarding the subpar action parts, I genuinely think Lilly Wachowski was the brains of that operation and regrettably she had nothing to do with Resurrections. .
Speed Racer had its moments. And if we're to believe the industry gossip they pretty much directed V for Vendetta in everything but name. The reason being that WB did not want to deal with their transitioning during the promo tour. Considering the time and atmosphere of the mid aughts towards transgender people, coupled with the fact the the director for V for Vendetta was a first timer and hasn't made anything of significance since then I'm gonna believe the rumor.
F the haters, this movie was almost as good as the original. Action was the only thing not making it it's equal and it was close as is. 1>4>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>2/3.
Hmm… So the directing could have been better. Some of the casting and acting could have been better as well, especially early on. CGI could have been better too. What I would have liked to have seen is a new standard being set regarding the action scenes like the first film. They were definitely subpar. It felt a little too clean as well. I think I would have liked it to be a little more gritty. I actually liked the story, but the execution wasn’t there 100% All that said, I didn’t hate it. I think I can even say I enjoyed it. It’s just nothing new and I didn’t get any nostalgia feels like I did with the new Spider-Man. It had loads of potential to be a banger, it just wasn’t. It was a decent film and that’s ok, I guess.
As someone who one liked the first one and only remembers the first one vaguely, can you just watch this without getting confused? Is it sort of a soft reboot? It should never have gone past the first one in my opinion. The mystery of the Oracle is what made the 1st movie and once the 2nd one came around with all the nonsense enemies, just physical threats, the bubble burst and the essence was lost.
Man Rotten Tomatoes has it at either a 5 or a 1 Not much inbetween Yea. . .looks like an HBO MAX movie for me . .. . I was hoping at least the visuals will be theater worthy Rocket River
