You’re becoming insufferable with your conservative takes. I don’t care what the folks at the Federalist or any of the other mainstream or deep cut conservative outlets you’ve been linking to think about COVID.
In what way are the shots not vaccines? It stimulates the immune system to produce antibodies and provide immunity. It may not be 100% immunity, but it is still a vaccine. If 100% immunity is required to be a 'vaccine', then most of the vaccines today are not vaccines either. TDAP - 80-90% effective with 5 doses MMR - 97% against measles, 88% against mumps, 97% against Rubella with two doses Hep B - 99-100% after 3 doses Chickenpox - 98% after two doses Hep A - 95% after two doses Meningococcal vaccine - 85% Most vaccines are really good, but not 100%. It took decades of research to get these vaccines to what they are today. The purpose of vaccines is not just protect a single person from the diseases, but by bringing about herd immunity where the R0 of the disease is brought down to below one. Then the risk of catching the disease decreases over time to nearly zero because it's so difficult for the disease to take hold in the vaccinated population. It's a scientific miracle that the covid vaccines are made so quickly and as effective as they are right now. I am sure future covid vaccine will be made even more effective and safer with fewer side effects, but we can't let perfect be the enemy of good.
I like the idea of having a mad vaccine vigilante like @SamFisher going around sticking vaccines in people and dogs he suspects as unvaccinated @basso
They need to start swatting crowded places and lock them crazies up. Enough of the privilege bullshit already
Update: still feel fine. Slight congestion but otherwise am A-OK. Was going to go for my jog last night but the Mrs talked me out of it. I did another rapid test (different brand) and got another positive result. Also did a drive thru PCR test but won't get that result until Wednesday, which is useless because by then I won't be contagious anymore. The only weird thing that happened is I had my best night of sleep last night in forever. I usually wake up around 4am and am restless until I give up and get out of bed around 7am, but this morning I slept right through to 7:30am and woke up feeling good. So good that I wanted to get those other tests to make sure I actually had COVID. Apparently I do, but it's still very mild. If I were rating it as a cold, I would say its severity is 1/10. Hopefully it stays this way.
