I think the way they handle Mysterio is clever. The movie didn't really have any wasted scenes. It's weird, but I'm thankful when a superhero movie is "only" 2 hours long, and not the usual 2.5 hours. The jokes they throw in and the witty dialogue is not great, but it's a Marvel movie so they feel obligated to do that type of humor I guess. Jake Gyllenhaal is always great. And Marisa Tomei is still a smokeshow. The CGI is a bit much, but it's well done. I think the illusion tech is cool.

I thought the way they handled Mysterio was a huge misstep, they tried to ground it in reality but the physics just did not work and took me completely out of the movie.

Don't remember how they did it in the comic but I don't remember it being literally smoke and mirrors.

I do need to watch it again to see how they explained the illusions if they did maybe I missed something.

007 No Time To Die. I use to love these movies, but I think Mission Impossible has surpass it a few movies ago.

Being the Ricardos (Prime Video) - 8 out of 10. Two confessions. I am old and watched and loved the I Love Lucy Show (not so much the rest of Lucille Ball's television work). Routinely funny, sometimes laugh out loud funny. And revolutionized television. And while I like the actors in the movie (Kidman, Bardem, Simmons) I was worried what they would do playing such well known characters.

While there were a few times looking at Kidman I was a bit creeped out, there were many scenes she easily became Lucy (both her looks and voice). Bardem was fine as Desi and Simmons did great as William Frawley. Even the actress playing Vivian Vance did fine. But overall enjoyed the movie. The story focuses on one episode with two plot lines... Lucille Ball being accused of being a communist and Desi having been caught in an affair. The build around the I Love Lucy episode is well done, highlighting Lucille Ball's and Desi Arnaz's talents and power in television. And yea... knowing the television show well added to my enjoyment of the movie (for example: knowing Lucille Ball kept the Ethel character as "frumpy" which made Vivian Vance frustrated and angry about her role (married to the much older and overweight Frawley).

The Power of the Dog. I still don't know what to think about it, but it was definitely very well done.

Do not expect action. Expect a slow burn for 2 hours and then....

    Don't Look Up (Netflix) - 8.5/10

Smart, scary, funny and depressing. It's 30 minutes too long. The perfect allegory to what we are going through right now. We are all doomed.

Didn't think I was going to like this one from the trailer, but I enjoyed it considering the subject matter. Leo looks weird in this; the makeup is off on those closeups.

how did they get all these people in this movie?

8 Bit Christmas is an excellent movie to watch with family.

Classic stuff and it was pretty funny throughout.

    American Utopia - 9.5/10

Not even sure if this is a movie so much, but it is certainly a lot of fun. If you are a David Byrne fan, its a must watch. Takes a few minutes to kick into gear, but very enjoyable once it gets going. I only slight it .5 based on the uh......um.........makeup. That was distracting.

Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar 8/10

This pulls quite a few from the Bridesmaids cast. First off, this movie is 100% completely stupid. Understand that going in. That being said, lots of laughs. Lots of witty stuff. Kristen Wiig wins again.

Unforgivable 6.5. Dragged too long for no reason. I gave up

The Matrix Resurrection - 2.5/10. Mind-blowingly terrible movie.

Licorice Pizza - 6/10. A little too slow but overall enjoyable and worth a watch.

Also saw Don't Look Up with my wife and daughter. Impressive cast, agree Leo (and Jennifer Lawrence) looked way different. And yea... easy to connect the movie plot to our current situation. Jonah Hill steals the movie though (hard to do since he almost every one of his scenes also had Meryl Streep hamming it up).

I read somewhere most of Jonah Hill's lines were improvised.

got pulled into Cruella after it had started, really enjoyed it. Emma Stone is amazing, I'm always a sucker for Emma Thompson, and Mark Strong is great as usual. The two guys who play the henchmen are excellent too. The music was fantastic--whoever put it together was a genius. A surprising (to me) 8 or 9 out of 10. And yes I would eagerly watch the sequel. also, not really about the dogs.

Same reaction when the wife and I saw it. I've been pretty blasé about Disney's live action remakes so I didn't expect much but really ended up loving it. Way better than it needed to be....

Sing 2 Cute kids movie, if you like jukebox musicals this is a solid mindless watch - B+

The King's Man The trailers make it look in line with the first two in terms of wackiness but the actual movie is way too serious with barely any mindless fun - C

Matrix Resurrection I liked the The New Nightmare meta approach at the beginning before it turned into a lazy sci-fi filck - C+

Licorice Pizza PTA captures the era but it's one of those movies where nothing really happens. Cast is pretty great but it was difficult for me to believe this 25 year old girl would be seriously considering a 15 year old guy. - B+

    Did somebody finally watch this!!??!!!

I was talking it up months ago when it premiered on HBO...it's one of the best stage shows I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot. Friends of mine who are not Talking Heads fans (weirdos) said the same. Everyone should eat a gummy and check it out.
