I’m not seeing "immense amount of hatred", I think whatever weird infatuation you guys have with this kid makes you perceive legit criticism and stating obvious facts as "hatred". That’s number one. Number two is, some bitterness and disappointment may be a bit too reflexive and premature, sure, but how can this really baffle your mind? Fans who suffered through a terrible season and a 20-game losing streak, and high blood pressure during the lottery, these fans have emotionally invested in the hope of the #2 pick, the silver lining, the light at the end of the tunnel. seeing this kid, who BTW is paid more than an average NBA salary, play so bad, not do any blue-collar work, not boxing out, not fighting screens, just a prima ballerina on the court… yeah some fans will be bitter, how is that baffling? It may not be the wise thing, patience is warranted, you’re correct about that. But "baffling"?? Fans are fans, reactions like these are completely normal for any fan base…
There is no weird infatuation. Level headed people who aren't infatuated with Green see the hyperbolic absurd statements. I'm just going to assume those posters made the minimum age threshold to sign up and post here.
ah, ok. but hyperbole is not hatred, come on. If you want to police for style, that”s another thing, but hyperbolic speech and hateful speech are different things.
The Rockets are entertainment to me and Green has not lived up to a fraction of his billing. He was projected to be NBA ready and can’t miss pick. Yes it is early, my concern is if we wait we will get nothing for him vs selling to soon and he is a superior difference maker of player. The bet is hedged because of Christopher’s play and a healthy return if we act NOW. Waiting just decreases the return. AND from what you have seen from Silas do you really think much will change? As stated, I want Green to be successful, I just find it hard to believe it will be as a Rocket.
This thread should be on fire all you bums in here should be happy with Jalen's first game. Ya'll lucky he was on restriction he would have messed up and won this game.. Jalen didnt even force anything.
Everyone stunk it up in those first 17 games......because of no space. Grill everyone....trade everyone? Throw all babies out with the bath water
He was supposed be Kobe, remember a can’t miss pick once in a generation talent that is already NBA ready. Remember losing all of last year and he was the reward making it all worthwhile. Let’s not even look at the other prospects because this is our future. Sorry if I am not overwhelming positive with anticipation wanting more of the same. Not all the babies need to be tossed, just the ones not living up to a fraction of their expectations. We where sold Kobe and got a non-rotation player. I want to be wrong and Green be a positive asset to our team.
Kobe wouldn't have done squat against 5 defenders in the paint...nor MJ...nor LeBron Kobe (age 19).....stat....Jalen Green 25.7 mins..........minutes..........30.8 mins 40.9%....................FG%.............38.2% 13.1.......................FGA..............12.7 33.3%.....................3P%.............27.8% 3.0..........................3PA..............6.4 3.5..........................TRB..............3.1 2.8..........................Ast................2.3 1.4...........................stl.................0.6 0.4............................blk................0.2 0.4...........................TOV................2.7 16.6..........................pts................14.0 *Green started all 18 games.....Kobe zero *Kobe had better supporting cast to open driving lanes *Green has played in two games with new spacing, tonight's stats not part of numbers listed above
@fattz Failed to indicate it; listed Kobe first 18 games of second season vs Jalen Green first 18 games The two games Green has participated in this new open space offense has resulted in about a point per minute played. So, if Green played 36 minutes = 36 points. At least that was the pace prior to the Pacers zone defense.
Can update Kobe vs Green stats at first 19 games at age 19 Kobe.......stats.........Jalen Green 26.0.........mins...............30.5 13.5..........FGA...............12.7 42.2%.......FG%...............38.8% 3.2.............3PA................6.5 34.4%........3P%..............30.6% 3.5.............TRB................3.0 2.8..............Ast.................2.3 1.3...............stl..................0.7 0.4................blk................0.3 *1.9..............TOV...............2.7 17.3..............pts................14.3 *[basketball-reference.com Kobe 1.9 in first 18 games as well (typo in earlier posting) ] Individuals try to discourage people from making the Kobe / Green comparison's. Not me. I've never backed down from it.
