I wrote a book. It never sold nor did anyone actually read it after publishing.

Imagine risking your life for a tech millionaire's luggage bag in a car. All for probably just enough to live in Oakland. Poor old man can't even retire with dignity in this sorry ass country.

SFPD won't stop crime unless it makes the news because a celebrity getting robbed is a NO-NO!
    @J.R.

    https://www.sfchronicle.com/crime/a...-loot-stolen-from-A-Rod-s-car-in-14299172.php

Half-million in jewelry, electronics stolen from A-Rod’s SUV in San Francisco, sources say

    https://www.mercurynews.com/2019/08...go-over-well-with-other-car-break-in-victims/

Alex Rodriguez’s perceived special treatment from SFPD doesn’t go over well with other car break-in victims

Slightly Breezee tweeted directly at SFPD: “Watching the coverage about the break in involving Alex Rodriguez and ESPN. Police showed up and fingerprinted. I don’t know a single resident who had this level of police involvement and we’ve all been through this.”

$65 per residence per month, 150 residences. $9,750 a month to drive around and tell people to stop breaking into cars? That ain't too shabby.

Sign me up. Criminals can run a lucrative security business too, just send their goons to break into people’s cars and then send the other goons out to patrol the neighborhoods. Genius

    Thanks Chesa Boudin

Oakland is getting gentrified quickly. People are still getting randomly shot though.

Most of the struggling folk are taking 1+ hr train rides to make due with work, if they done feeling like packed sardines inside the Bay.

BTW, Bay Area is tech Everest, but because of the real estate situation, it's really an iceberg.

When people underwater are pushed even lower as tech bourgeoisie are scrambling to reach the 5,000ft heights, **** like this happens.

It's not going to end pretty because it started out as something people trained themselves to ignore or walk away.

10+ years ago, people like Willie Brown, Newsom and Ed Lee tried selling people dreams of expanding living space for another million.

That never happened as the noose of rent got tighter.

There is still incredible wealth and people capital at the Bay that makes Silicon Valley world class, but the situation can easily rattle the industry if these petty smash and grabs becomes a full fledged peasant riot. I don't think this will happen as most of the poor homeless (the non-crazy kind) usually go out of their way not to be visible to normies or to avoid law enforcement.

You never know, and the conditions are definitely there.

The video I posted recently is a dude who delivers grub hub etc and YouTubes his bike rides
He said he predicted all of this based on what he sees on the streets
The people making these dumb policies are really rich people who think of the working class as pigeons in the park
Getting together to hire private security because they don’t want police ? Only rich people can hire armed security
Solving the worlds people doesn’t start with helping the homeless and stop crime
It’s having organic dog food and banning plastic straws

Let's be clear here, CVS and Target aren't being hurt. Since the pandemic began, the value of CVS has nearly doubled, and Target has more than doubled - they are doing incredibly well, and part of that is because they close stores that don't work for them.

The people being hurt are not the stores when a store closes, it's the community that depends on them. This has nothing to do with political slant. Plenty of Republicans go to Target and CVS, and plenty of Democrats eat at Chick-fil-a.

quite the euphemism for "closing stores that have been continually vandalized."

We aren’t talking about their us operations
It’s very specific to San Francisco
Yes the community is hurting but they don’t keep stores open to take uncontrolled losses

no coincidence the mayor and governor are suddenly going to get ‘tough on crime’
Because they did nothing about crime .
    Shoplifting is ignored there
