Spoiler I think they left it intentionally vague so they can do whatever they want in the next movie. Just because they forgot about him, doesn't mean there isn't any record of him. Unless they literally wiped out his existence. Granted the avengers and Strange remember fighting with Spider-Man, he could just go up to Happy and Strange and say, I'm the guy behind the mask. This was a great way to reboot Spider-Man while keeping all the popular actors. The retro suit at the end represents it. No more saving the world with Stark tech. Now he can go after local Villains like King Pin.
so... did all 4 spidies find their way home or naw? I might go see it when the theaters aren't as crowded with a matinee show.
Hype that the movie definitely lived up to. Plus appearances by Strange, Doc Ock, Green Goblin, Electro and the introduction of the multiverse as a concept. On the surface level, people are just starved for an MCU movie that rivals Endgame. Helps that this movie had more to do with IW/Endgame than Shang-Chi and Eternals did. Honestly, if Covid wasn't a thing, I wonder if No Way Home could have surpassed Endgame. NWH would have easily beaten Infinity War. https://variety.com/2021/film/news/...e-opening-weekend-pandemic-record-1235137725/
Spiderman is marvel's flagship character. He is marvel's superman. The fact they were able to make a bil off b level character like IM and Cap really shows how good marvel has been at making money. It is good they have finally showed the potential of their A list characters. I mean spiderman's rogue gallery might be better than the rest of the MCU combined.
Multiverse was introduced in the first Dr Strange, then reinforced in Endgame. It was also the central plot point of Into the Spiderverse, which was a huge hit and targeted much of the same audience. Then half the Disney+ shows touch on it.
Great movie. I really thought that the premise was dumb but they really made it credible and believable for why Peter would want people's minds erased. Downside is that it did require Strange being a douche and Peter being remarkably irresponsible though in order to get to that point. A bit tired of them using Peter's naivety as a major reason for the plots. I didn't watch Dr Strange but is he always a douche or did they make him one in order to fit the plot as well?
Dr. Strange's character is a huge, arrogant dbag. He was a world-renowned neurosurgeon, as arrogant as they come. Then his hands got shattered and he spent seven years in magic Tibet to become a magician.
This movie was so profitable that it pushed out every other movie in some theaters like Nightmare Alley to have more Spider-man screenings lol.
I'm a little concerned that it's going to hurt The Matrix 4's box office and jeopardize any hope of sequels. That or it will jump start the theatre business again and M4 will do just fine.
It's not looking good for WB. This movie will definitely hurt Matrix 4's box office. Also, omicron variant is rising and the movie is available on HBO Max, why go to the movies? Prepare to be disappointed in Matrix 4's numbers IMO
If they weren't B-list characters in regards to public exposure outside of comic books, Marvel would have made a lot of money selling off their movie rights when they were selling off the A-list character movie rights.
Captain America was popular but iron man was not that popular. Marvel sold the movie rights to the A list heroes ( Spider-Man, X-Men and mutants, and F4) when they almost went bankrupt before Disney. Marvel studios pretty much had to work with the leftovers.
Loved it. Don't remember Dafoe being so epic as Greengoblin tbh. Good call removing his mask for this one. His facial expressions.... he looks like a Goblin WITHOUT the mask. I wish they could keep him in the MCU somehow.
