consumers were picking TCL and HiSense for QLED TVs, no reason to overpay for Samsung, they didn't even have Dolby Vision.

You probably should break it down by LCD and OLED. If OLED, get a Sony or LG. LG makes all the OLED panels. If LED, it varies depending on how picky you are. You can get a cheap 75" LED for under $600 or spend a lot more. Whether it's worth it is up to you and your viewing.

If you don't even know what questions to ask, head over to rtings.com and read about what they say, which, in some cases, may be a lot more than you need to know, but at least they rank stuff for you.

I had a 55" Samsung LED from around 2014 or 2015 just start malfunctioning on me, so I bought a 65" LG C1 OLED. Obviously the picture quality is better to me, but what was best about it is that the upscaling on non-4K material looked pretty awesome.

To sum it up, there really is no "rank", but rather ranks within models within manufacturers (maybe) combined with ranking what you'll be using it for.
If you just want cheaper, you go with something like HiSense or TCL. If you want the latest technology and buzz-words and possibly a better picture, you go with LG, Sony, or Samsung. In any case, I wouldn't overspend because whatever you buy will be old news within 3-4 years with newer technology coming out.

i have a 80 inch 1080p LED (i think) i got in 2014. It was pretty affordable at the time (like 1,800 on a black friday), nad comes in clear enough for me... but starting to consider an upgrade. However, size remains my #1 need, and I'd need a pop to like 90 inches or more to pull the trigger.

Is stuff like that out or coming out in any way affordable?

Can't do projector as its a room that gets a lot of daylight during the day.

You can get 85" 4K LED tv's for around $1500-$1800 nowadays for the cheapest ones.

Got my mother a 50 inch Amazon fire TV 4 series for her bedroom, got it on sale for 359.

It's a great picture almost as good as my plasma if I decide to go bigger or my plasma goes out it will be on my list.

OLEDX is offensive imo -- blacks are overrepresented at the expense of other colors.
