Just saw it, comedy was pretty good, action was great, the emotional scenes were well acted.

I usually like the origin movies better in the MCU than the sequels but this was really enjoyable.

Really happy to see Daredevil make an appearance and of course D’Onoffrio in Hawkeye. Those two killed it in the Netflix show. Need more of them in the MCU.

Really thought it could have gotten campy and silly when Garfield and Maguirre showed up but it was actually pretty well done even with the cheesy jokes. How often can you say recycled villains from older movies actually create a good product? Pleasantly surprised.

So does this mean Holland is leaving the MCU and Sony is spinning off their own universe? Everyone forgetting him is a bit much. Don't understand how his classmates would forget who he is as a person. I thought the spell only had them forget he was Spider-Man. Major plot hole.

Dr Strange made is pretty clear what the full extent of it meant so it certainly isn't an oversight.

And Spider-Man is certainly staying in the MCU for now anyway.

Sort of a head scratcher that I’m still trying to wrap my brain around.

After the forget spell we see:

-JJJ ranting about Spidey. Spidey is still a hero in the MCU.
-Peter gets a crappy apartment. You’d think he at least needs to tender some ID to get that.
-Peter has a GED study guide.

So why can’t Peter finish HS? Why aren’t his college application letters being considered like MJ and Ned’s are? He’s still a person in the MCU. He must have dropped out of HS on his own.

I like the ‘soft reboot’ that happened. It will be interesting to explore.

The first spell was for everyone but the people Peter personally knew to forget he was Spider-Man; the second spell was for everyone to forget Peter Parker. The second spell wiped Peter Parker away, but kept Spider-Man.

I know we're not supposed to think about things too seriously, but I have a question.

So, Strange casts a spell in which everyone in the world (universe?) forgets about Peter Parker, completely. Not that Peter Parker and Spidey are one and the same...they forget about Parker entirely. As if he never existed.

So if this is the case, are all his governmental documents still...legal? Social security number, birth certificate, etc.
    1. Spider-Man, the costumed dude, still exists. Peter Parker, doesn't. The spell wasn't to delete both Peter and Spidey from everyone's memory...it was just Peter Parker.

    2. I thought about this, too. Since it looks to be a rundown apartment, maybe it's a hush-hush 'no credit needed' deal or something. The landlord probably didn't run Peter's ID through credit checks and stuff. It's a stretch, but explainable.

    3. Since 'Peter Parker' has been deleted, there's probably no record of him attending high school, middle school or any sort of school. If Peter wanted to re-enroll in high school, I think he'd have to have a parent or guardian to vouch for him...and since May died, he has neither. The school district would ask too many questions.

Speculation on my part if they go this route: maybe that's why he'll becomes a freelance photographer like in the comics. Don't really need a HS diploma / college degree for that, and the Daily Bugle doesn't ask too many questions regarding the applicant's life. Again, no background checks or anything.

The rundown apartment seemed like a callback to the tobey mcguire spiderman movies where he lived in a similarly rundown apartment.

Hmm...I see your points. I need to watch it again. Will take my wife.

Oh yeah, I ended up getting passes after the movie. It was supposed to be 3D (I bought the 3D tickets on accident) and it wasn't (which I was glad of). They passed out passes afterwards. :D
