My partner is going to Spain for a week. One of the few areas I'm not familiar. Would love advice & food options.
It's a fairly large city with a metro population of about a million people, it's sitting at the bottom of a mountain range opening out onto the Atlantic ocean. It's basque which is a distinct culture with all that entails, here's a link about the food https://spanishsabores.com/basque-food/ The mountain range blocks the sun in winter, It will be chilly, it will be wet, it's not southern Spain so bring appropriate clothing. It has multiple large national parks / nature preserves surrounding the city, and of course close by beaches to check out if you are into that. It has an art scene with multiple museums, dramatic architecture new and old. Hope you and your man enjoy it's a great city.
Since you are familiar with most areas. I have a friend that is going to do some missionary work in Ghana & Togo. I would love some advice and food options.
Spain has several distinct regions that could be considered countries. I liked Madrid and Barcelona. They're different and I imagine the others would be as well if I can ever travel while feeling comfortable again. I'd also look into Portugal. Once you land in Europe, it's fairly simple riding a train to go places.
Outside of the tourist things to do in Madrid or Barcelona, San Sebastian is where i would go. Weather must be pretty **** at this time of the year though
Andalusia, Baskia, Catalonia, Madrid, Ibiza, Mallorca, Canary Islands Valencia, Castilla La Mancha, Galicia, Murcia.
I have spent a lot of time in san sebastian highly recommended and will hopefully be there next summer. Best months are June and july
If you are going to san sebastian soon your best time to go near January 20. Massive party and town shuts down lots of fun - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tamborrada
I would check the restrictions. The Netherlands just put in a bunch of new restrictions on Dec. 14th. Don't know about Spain but many of the EU countries proof of vaccination before entry from the US. Here in Amsterdam they won't accept the US vaccination card. They want an ap with a QR code that can access your vaccination history. Check with your health provider to see if they can get you the code.
What's wrong with Spain you god damn mineshaft enthusiast. Do you need to feel the spirit of the gaucho running through the air or something? The blood of the natives running under your feet? You some kind of new world elitist?
