Even if we were trying to win it would be wise to keep Jalen out. Players routinely come back too early from hamstring injuries only to re injure themselves.
Mobley is a very good player but I think people underestimate how solid that team is even without Mobley- Cleveland has been collecting lotto picks since Lebron left and are starting to see that talent make developmental leaps to the point where they no longer have to rely on aging injury prone Kevin Love. I think the other thing that helps The Cavs as a team and obviously in turn, Mobley is that he is playing with Jarrett Allen so opponents shoot really poorly at the rim against Cleveland because they got two switchable bigs who both can patrol the paint but who are also able to bring at least some skill offensively. …I’ll give you the Markkanen thing - I didn’t see that coming but I guess his defensive liability is somewhat neutralized with two shot blockers backing him up making him much more productive overall. This is definitely one of those context things where the Cavs hit the right mix with the roster being able to supplement each other’s weaknesses. I don’t think you would have quite the same impact from Mobley on another team - especially in Houston.
Look at Cade's shooting splits his first 16 games (worse than Jalen Green's) versus his last 8 which includes this game against the Rockets. Can't expect rookies to get better though as they adjust to the NBA. https://www.espn.com/nba/player/gamelog/_/id/4432166/cade-cunningham
It's interesting that you use Mobleys ability to play the 4 as an argument against him being successful on other teams. Typically if you're 7' and can still play with another center, it's a good thing.
The frustrating thing is the Rockets passed on both Jarrett Allen ( Harden trade) and Mobley in the draft. They literally could have had both. So it’s really frustrating to watch when you know that, especially when the guy you took hasn’t lived up to the draft hype.
he should sit out as long as it takes for his hamstring to fully heal. there is no reason to rush him back.
I don’t believe we would have drafted Mobley if we kept Allen. But sitting here, I probably prefer the potential of Green and Sengun to Mobley and Allen. It’s close, though.
He's our most talented player & by FAR best rookie. We need to take our time getting him healthy. He's the future and face of this organization
I still find it increasingly mental that people have totally written off Green like he's shown absolutely nothing. It must be so weird having confirmation bias against your own team.
Wow! I don’t see it but Umkay. I go the other way and it’s not close. They could have used the Sengun pick on another position or in another deal. With KPJ, Mobley & Allen that’s a pretty strong young core. IMHO.
You don't know how it would have played out. Does Allen help us win more game last year? If so, we might have the pick to take either of them.
