The media did not portray Rittenhouse as sympathetic. The first thing you saw about Rittenhouse is him shooting people and the first you saw of Aubrey is him being shot. The only other images I saw of Rittenhouse were during the trial and his smiling afterwards
related: The Media’s Color-Coded Parenting Standard White parents of school shooters are culpable; black parents of inner-city gangbangers are blameless. https://www.city-journal.org/school-shootings-color-coded-parenting-standard-of-the-media excerpt: On April 19, 2021, McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski suggested in a text to Chicago’s mayor that the parents of two children recently killed in Chicago’s gang activity had “failed those kids.” Kempczinski’s text became public in November 2021, prompting widespread accusations of racism and calls for his resignation. Kempczinski confessed to his white privilege and apologized profusely for holding parents responsible for the fate of their children. On December 3, a district attorney in Michigan filed involuntary manslaughter charges against the parents of Ethan Crumbley. The 15-year-old Crumbley allegedly killed four fellow students during a shooting rampage at his Oxford, Michigan high school on November 30. The prosecutor based her indictment of Crumbley’s parents on the fact that they had allowed Ethan to access a legally purchased handgun and ought to have known that the boy was primed to kill his classmates. The press, Democratic politicians, and gun control advocates greeted the homicide charges against the Crumbley parents with ecstatic approbation. The divergent reactions to the Kempczinski text message and the Crumbleys’ indictment illuminate the different standards to which minority parents and white parents are held. When black juveniles perpetrate street violence, the press and public officials almost never ask: where were the parents? The less involved a parent is in a child’s life, the less society expects of him. These double standards may have a benign intent, but they enable a cultural dysfunction whose effects are thousands of times more lethal than school shootings. more
Depends on the media. For example, during the trial when he broke down on the stand, left leaning media tended to imply it was planned, rehearsed, fake, etc., while right leaning media was sympathetic to a now 18 year old reliving what he had done. And, of course, the first images of each were those you described. That was their story. Rittenhouse shot, Arbery was shot.
Exactly it was the story. The media just reports the story. @Rocket River The media didn't do any negative portrayal of Rodney King or try to make those officers look good. In most of these police killings they are sympathetic to the victim. What happens in the court room is beyond their control. The media didn't do any white washing of Chaivin and was extremely sympathetic to Floyd
@Rocket River Its very sad to see this card played of negative media portrayal when the media is trying make a new civil rights movement. They have basically conceded police are out to make black people's lives miserable. Thus this thread backed by a real problem of enthusiasm for being a law enforcement officer
There two separate issues with Police. They abuse their power with little accountability and some of them happen to be racist. I agree with pgabriel that police aren't inherently racist ( though I wouldn't be surprised if the percentage was a little higher since the job attracts assholes), but when they are racist, having that much power with little accountability makes it a lot worse.
Well....Arbery was portrayed in conservative media as a thief and trespasser while Rittenhouse was portrayed as a victim and someone protecting himself. Liberal media portrayed those 2 stories opposite. Also conservative media was sympathetic to Chauvin and was portraying Floyd as a drug abuser who was going to die of an OD any way had Chauvin not killed him.
Conservative media's audience wouldn't give a **** about Arbery regardless of what their need stations told them. I don't want to have a stupid Bobrek argument about Rush Limbaugh's trying to prove pgabriel wrong when we know conservative media is like that about everything. The guy in River's post was referring to all media
So I've mentioned before I went to private school. I'm 46 years old. When I was in high school the Rush Limbaugh talk world had really started to solidify is place in politics and social issues I was very aware of Limbaugh because a lot of white kids I went to school with were conservative talk listeners. However I had no idea how Rodney King was being portrayed till long after graduation
My point is... you said "the media just reports the story". Unfortunately, in publicized cases, that is simply not true. The media on both sides (as I posted) chooses their side and reports the story from their bias. Do you disagree with that?
I was referring to Rocket River's post in which the subject is everyone in media. Referring to my above post about Rodney King the main stream media should have been upfront about how he ended up in the situation
@bobrek Sorry for another post. I have never defended conservative media. Conservatives will argue Fox is honest and fair but I think the majority view them as an alternative When delving into their reporting of things like Floyd's drug use that is coming from their commentary and a lot of what is viewed as opposite reporting is commentary and people don't view it as news and view it as understandably biased. The guy in the video isn't talking about commentary even though he is referring to bias. That being said the main stream media should have been more honest about Rodney King because at the end of the day if all cards aren't laid out then the Limbaugh's have a crack in your wall. Let me be clear I thought those officers still should have been convicted
this would lower police morale I'm sure Police Officer's Puppy Targeted in 'Evil, Heinous Crime,' Police Chief Says https://www.westernjournal.com/police-officers-puppy-targeted-evil-heinous-crime-police-chief-says/
"The Guy"? LMAO - Tell me you are not black without saying your are not black Uh huh . . .. . Rocket River "The Guy"? LMAO
It's conservative media. You know they are biased one. Enjoy your life and not worry about. There are racist people. You can't do anything to change their thoughts. Who was the guy? Hold up I don't give a ****. That's how you should approach racism. Racism hasn't stopped you from doing anything you want You should definitely stop looking for stupid conspiracies
