Keep looking at our roster and thinking who will see what minutes when everyone eventually returns. Considering we dont have any major injuries (that we know of) on the team, it seems that at some point everyone (minus Wall) will be eligible for minutes. During this first quarter of the season, there are a few guys that have absolutely earned rotation minutes, and bar any trades that come along, they still seem to be the odd man out, especially when looking at Silas' past rotations. So IMO it looks like: KPJ/GREEN/GORDON/TATE/WOOD DJ/JAYGUP/GARRI LEGEND/KJ/SENGUN That leaves Armoni, House, Garuba and Theis out of the rotation. Silas seems fine playing Theis whenever he wants so that may be the answer for him. But he also seems to want to paly House as much as he can aswell. Brooks is the real casualty here because hes looked really good in the minutes hes been given, and once Garuba is healthy he should see some minutes at the end of the bench. Moving DJ out seems like an obvious choice, but hes a steady vet presence handling the ball and really helps co ordinate that 2nd unit (when hes playing well). So who do you think makes it? Will a trade ne made? Or can you see the rotation being pushed beyond 10, 11 guys?
You think Green is out of the starting lineup when he comes back? Im also not 100% sold on Tate/Sengun/Wood but could be wrong. The passing may make it work, but im not sure people respect Senguns 3ball to help with spacing just yet. Whos on the bench?
Brooks isn't going to be a casualty. There's always going to be a place for that guy...He's actually upped his game in KPjr's absence. Armoni's no PG though.
That's what I'd run for now. Trade CW and Gordon at the deadline. They'll probably put Green back out there.
Yeah thats what im worried about. Hes been really good, but ideally we would want someone to run the 2nd unit if DJ is moved out right? And with some combination of Green/Garri/Gordon/Jaygup in the lineup, im not 100% sure where Armoni fits.
Seeing Walls name there makes me nervous more than anything. Unless we go on another win streak and think he can help, i dont see why this would happen?
Opponent with Big(s): starters KP jr Jalen Green Tate Wood Sengun Opponent with Smaller Lineup: starters KP jr Jalen Green G Mathews Tate Wood
Matthews needs to continue to start. Green will come off the bench until further notice. Brooks can continue to see regular time as I don’t think Silas has a problem giving minutes out deep down the bench. Edit: I forgot House was still on the team. Geez. Need to move him as well. Theis is fine as long as he doesn’t play with Wood. He’s good insurance but would also trade him if you intend to roll with Wood. Trade Gordon and House sooner rather than later.
The fact that Silas is going to tell either mathews or Tate that they are coming off the bench so we can start the lesser player, the youngster green , yet the youngster sengun is benched for the older player wood , tells you all you need to know about what is wrong with this team, owner, and coach I think all the problems can be summed up with that lineup hypocrisy BTW look at the schedule coming up. , Two weeks from now I think we will see changes . Big losing streak coming. "Hey Garrison , I know youre young and busted your ass on both sides of the court, and outplayed green by a mile, but we are starting green instead" WTF would Garrison/sengun or any half way decent player want to play for this unfair favortism organization?
All good points but you forgot , it's Silas We will keep house . We will start green we will bench bird Basically and literally everything good that we are supposed to do, Silas will do the opposite. Kinda like that seinfeld episode where George did the opposite of what his mind told him to do. Silas does the opposite of common Sense.
I'm starting to think I hate green more than house. House atleast comes off the bench and keeps his mouth shut. Green should receive the same treatment.but he doesn't.
KPJ Green Garry Legend Tate Wood I think Eg in the starting lineup takes too many shots away from Green and KPJ. If he isn't shooting and dominating the ball he feels useless out there. KPJ does all the shooting anyway, you dont need 2 ball dominate people in the starting lineup. Mathews would be great just being a guy out there spacing the floor not dominating the ball. JC Brooks EG KJ Martin Sengun DJ would be the odd man out. Sengun can set everyone up in this lineup.
If everyone comes back healthy: the likely starter lineup Silas will go to is the one before but with Theis swapped a 3pt shooter (Mathews or Brooks) ---------------- Starters KPJ Green Mathews or Brooks Tate Wood ---------------- 2nd Unit DJ / Josh Christopher Eric Gordon Mathews or Brooks KJ Martin Sengun I'm OK with this starting line up even though I don't think there's that much of a talent drop off from Starter to Bench. If we go by ability and winning games. I would swap out KPJ / Green for Eric Gordon. I'm OK with Green keep starting. I'm not high on KPJ. He started to play better right before his injury. You could argue KPJ's actual play might be better than Green, but both guys are in different stages. I give Green more rope because he's a rookie. For KPJ, we can sacrifice wins in a rebuild, if it means Rockets need 'data' to know if KPJ is a point guard of the future. This year is his audition window. Note: The Rockets org seems unnaturally invested in KPJ, but I have my doubts. It's like your favorite TV show, trying to "push" promote a character, that you don't quite see the appeal. If KPJ's no good, then Stone should have enough to know if he should give an extension (and how much). If we should draft or trade another young guard. ================================= Lineup if we're trying to win actual games. ------------- Starters Gordon Brooks Mathews Tate Wood------------- Bench: DJ / KPJ Green JGup KJ Martin Sengun ## If you want to swap Sengun in for Tate or someone, I'm open to it. The movable guys are DJ, Gordon, Nawaba, Theis, House, Wall and yes... maybe Wood. Personally I don't have an issue keeping most of these guys since injury happens (like right now) and you're playing your depth. That said one guy has to go to make room for Garrison; probably House. I like Garuba and maybe his chance will come if Theis gets moved. Maybe unpopular opinion; if Nwaba don't play, I'm happy at least he's getting paid. He played hurt for us last year; sacrificed his body, risking further injuries. So even if he's not getting minutes, on a human level; I'm happy he's collecting a decent check. I don't want to hear a peep out of assistant coach Wall, not only is he taking up most of the cap, but he's taking up a roster spot. If I was a basketball God, and snap my finger for Wall to not be on this team; I happily distribute that 40 mil out per, and give everyone else on this team a raise.
