Why wouldn't Brooklyn take Simmons for themselves?

Trading Gordo now would be a mistake.

    Trade these guys instead:

    House
    Theis

    KAT, Beverly, and Bolmaro.

    for

    Wall, Wood, Mathews and Tate.

Yes it works on the trade machine. Just need Karl to demand a trade from that garbage organization.

Likely cash in one of those BKN FRPs here too.

Wall definitely but rather not include Tate.

    Maybe Garuba and House instead.

For Ben Simmons and Danny Green.

Need something of value back for Gordo, he fits this team too much.

Gamble for both teams, but if Zion gets healthy, Rockets would be contender next year.

Christian Wood, 2022 frp, 2023 frp via Milwaukee 2023 via bkln, 2025 frp
    For Zion

    Lineup:

    KPJ, Jaygup
    Green, Matthews, Jaygup
    Tate, KJM, Garuba, Matthews
    Zion, Tate, Garuba
    Segun, Theis, Garuba

NBA TV just said Zion's right foot has more soreness so they're adjusting his rehab. While I like your thought, foot injuries with big men have not been a good sign for longevity. I'm not really a gambler, so I'd probably pass, but your trade is the kind of thinking we'll need to consider, especially in the next two years.

Yes that’s the risk equation. It’s a real gamble, especially with the 2022 pick. We won’t have to make the Max contract decision until we see how he played next year. I wouldn’t even try and get him back the rest of this year.

Ideally, yes. But I thinking clearing up 16M in cap space next season is probably not a bad thing for the FO. Also gets Gordon out of the way for a Green return, esp with the emergence of Matthews and Brooks. Need those guys to get run.

So although I'd like a better return, I'd probably take Bledsoe and two second rounders and then sit Bledsoe or buy him out.

If we are going with the rebuild window of the 2021 and 2022 seasons:

Wood for Bagley (expiring) + 2022 FRP pick swaps (we get better of Kings/BKN/Miami) + 2024 FRP (top 8 protected) + 2025 FRP (top 4 protected)

EG + Theis for Steven Adams (1 yr remaining for 2022) + Kyle Anderson (expiring)

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We take a flyer on Bagley and Kyle Anderson; probably can resign the former to a QO while the latter is a good shooting wing that we will probably get out bid, but we can also just let both walk.

We don't overload 2022 draft with too many picks, like how we had 4 picks in 2021. It's not the worst problem to have, but it's just difficult to develop and find playing time for them all or deciding which ones to pay. On the other hand, we do increase/replenish our draft picks for the seasons where we will most likely give them to OKC. Draft picks are currency in the NBA, but you can also be left holding the bag with a lot of youngins'.

Could potentially have a lot of cap space for the 2023, when Wall and Adams contracts are off.

I threw out an idea of taking on Love for picks (our 2nd rounder back and either a protected 2022 FRP or 2023 FRP) from the Cavs.

I cant decide if its a good idea or not.
Yes we'll have Love AND Wall on the books for 2 years, but we dont needa pay anyone until then anyway.

The idea was Gordon, House, Theis and 2 second rounders (Brooklyn and GS in 2024) for Love, 2022 second rounder (via Houston) and a top 10 protected 2023 FRP.

As an aside, it moves people off the roster to sign Garri Legend to a deal.

Rockets better not even remotely entertain this. I'd rather take a shot at fat Zion than Ben Simmons.

Probably because they have Harden to handle the ball and they need another scorer, not a facilitator

I think it's a good deal. Zion is never going to be the same again, he's too big and I think he doesn't have the drive to a Star.

It doesn't matter. Ben Simmons is hot garbage. I would never trade 4 first round picks for him. If Morey could get that he woulda already done it.

Gordon and Theis for Bledsoe and Ibaka

Bledsoe and Ibaka have been playing like complete trash, Rockets waive them, get out of a ton of future money, open up minutes for the young guys, facilitate the tank.
