Wood / Gordon / House/ Augustin for literally anyone and a better draft pick for the Rockets.

If we are going with the rebuild window of 2021 and 2022:

Wood for Bagley (expiring) + 2022 FRP pick swaps (we get better of Kings/BKN/Miami) + 2024 FRP (top 8 protected) + 2025 FRP (top 4 protected).

We can resign Bagley for QO or just let him walk after a half season, we don't add more picks to our plethora of rookies in 2021/2022 but upgrade our pick position (most likely), and we get future FRP the years we give up our picks to OKC.

Kings take a swing at competing while keeping their roster intact.

He’s not the problem right now, but he’s certainly not the solution. He’s a great value right now to sell high.

Wood playing 5 was critical to 7 game win streak.

He provides what Sengun cannot at this time.

Staying out of foul trouble and automatic 20/10 every night.

So many of you do not realize that this is not easy or even common in NBA and conveniently take it for granted.

And with Rockets rebounding issues, who on the team will fill that role?

Why…would Rox want to trade CW35 without a truly grand return???

I’m not saying Wood is bad and he deserves credit for the streak. Wood at this stage is a good 3rd guy on a contender, but on our timeline we are not anywhere near that. His contract expires next year and imo he’s not a max guy. He will be a negative asset at that value and will doom us to Indiana Pacer level of mediocrity for years.

Wood maybe does not fit on Green's timeline.

    MAYBE.

But Wood sure fits timeline of following players:

    KPJ
    Tate
    Mathews
    Brooks
    Gordon
    Augustin

Wood even fits on Sengun and Jaygup timeline.

This team is ready to compete right NOW.

It is wiser to trade FOR a legit starter instead of trading AWAY one.

The question is compete for what? If one accepts the premise that Segun is a starting center either now or next year, where does Wood play? We only have this year and the off-season to make up our mind on trading him and getting real value. My contention is that Segun is you’re starting center by the time we are contenders and the quest is for a complimentary PF which Wood is not. That is the conundrum of which I speak. If there is a PF out there to trade Wood for that would be my preference, but I’m not sure there is. Which means we need to stockpile picks to move up in the draft to get Banchero or someone else to play that position on a contending team not a play-in team.

Theis back in, and all of a sudden we suck balls again! Who would have thought? :D:D:D

F’ing Michael Jordan would struggle out there with Wood/Theis.

They're a competitive team, but they're an insanely long way away from being a legitimate championship contender. The goal isn't building a team that can sneak into the playoffs; it's building a team that can win a title.

The win streak was fun, and I genuinely like this squad and the way it's played as of late, but it would be a huge mistake for the Rockets' front office to let some short-term success take their eyes off the long-term prize.

Wood is really good, but he more than likely doesn't help them win a ring. As a free agent, he'll be 28 after next season and expect something close to a max deal. There's zero guarantee they can keep him, and a player of his ability and age, I would not want to pay him anything close to a max.

Now if the Rockets can find a way to develop Sengun and Wood together where they're both getting starter's minutes and the team starts to show they can compete for longer chunks of a season with the young guys all still getting minutes, I'm not opposed to keeping Wood. I just don't see a scenario where that happens.

I agree with this except: does he really deserve that much credit for the streak? Was there a win in there that he carried the team to? Or a game where he dominated down the stretch? We can say that about Tate, Gordon, even Matthews. He wasn't bad and definitely contributed, even making some good defensive plays in key moments, but I don't think he ever came up "big" in that way.

Christian Wood to the Rockets is like Carlos Lee was to the Astros.

Rockets got a Springer and an Altuve. Maybe even a Gurriel. Now they need a Correa and a Bregman. We need Jabari Smith, Banchero or Holmgren. If we don't get a Top 4 pick we need to be able to trade for a Top 4 pick.

He gets interest because he's good-- cue the "Wood is good" memes-- but I'd trade him and others in a package to snag an All Star PG or high #1 pick.

I like the Wood for PWill deals. He's the type of 4 that would be great next to ALP

Not sure what Chicago thinks but if they believe their roster is a contender they should be going all in.

Ball-Caruso-Lavine-Derozan-Wood is a helluva small ball lineup.

No need to trade him this year, if you want to, trade him next year.

We don't know how long it will take for the youngsters to get it, so why cut your own nose off to spite your face? Let's see how they look next year? It may be that we are getting close and you want to lock up Wood as a part of that.

Trading and treading seem to be trending.

You've been around long enough to know what they say when they're expiring, DD. They say, "Hey, we'll give you a little something but not much because we could just sign him outright in the offseason."

If you want to maximize your return for Wood you 100% have to trade him at this deadline. And, in my mind, the only reason you wouldn't do that is if he has already agreed to a very reasonable/moveable extension.

Yup, the "sell high" is more than just his current play.
