Systemic doesn't have to be relegated to just one city.

We know that the Federal Civil Rights investigation found Ferguson had it, even though they cleared the officer in the high profile case.

We know about a racial bias in sentencing. You are free to look up the other examples already cited in this thread.

You speak about a "racial bias in sentencing" like it's a given that applies across the board. It's a more nuanced issue than that. I think there are laws that have a disparate impact that needed changing a long time ago, like the crack vs. powdered cocaine issue in federal sentencing. But I don't think judges and juries in general are choosing to sentence people to harsher sentences based on the color of their skin.

Yes, that law is a problem as well. I was referring to black defendents with the same criminal record and found guilty of the same crime as white defendents getting a longer sentence than their white counterparts.

Judges and juries are giving out harsher sentences.

    Also another study from Harvard.

Your articles relate only to federal sentencing. Which is just judge-determined, not by juries. And federal cases makes up such a small percentage of overall criminal cases.

Agreed. That's a good point. But there is a systemic discrepancy. The fact that it is at Federal level illustrates my point that it isn't just certain cities.

I would be interested to see different state or local statistics and studies if they exist.

There are over 4,000 murders comitted by blacks annually. There are 150 blacks killed by police annually. There 300 whites killed annually. 4000 is a cultural problem.

Not too mention most of the 150 is justified in a job that's dangerous where some deaths are expected

Systemic yes, if you're talking about the federal system. You can't just extrapolate federal numbers to the state courts without data. I would also be interested in seeing state court numbers.

    @Rocket River

Educated blacks who have come from solid homes do a disservice blaming cyclical poverty on racism and that is a cultural problem. We have bad to fight racism so long we don't know how to look at other issues

Edit: Cyclical poverty and the associated issues like crime is an inner city issue

Falsely blaming everything on racism is a cultural problem and it hurts coming from accomplished blacks when blacks in the situation see it

I think part of the issue is more a larger percentage of black defendants can't afford better legal representation

@Rocket River called it exactly. According to you, when it's about African-Americans committing crime it is a fault of the black culture and everything they are doing wrong.

When it's evidence of the system treating a minority race unfairly the reason is financial and not that because of racism.

Again police violence against blacks is rare Police kill more whites every year . Most police killings are justified, that's why you only hear about so many. it's the job

    Black crime isn't rare.

Violence and kill are two different things.
Using one to minimize the other is disingenuous

BLM should be all over this. How does this cop only get fired? Where are the criminal charges? Hell with his last name being Remington it was only a matter of time before someone got clipped.

It's not as much rare as random. There is no link between police killings rather justified or not. not even a racial link
