20 games? You're already saying his 13 games of bad shooting so far is rock solid evidence for an enlightened and objective individual such as yourself that he is, in fact, a bad shooter. But if he follows by a 13 game sample of good shooting, and you'd still be on here sneering that the good shooting is "just Jalen being a streaky shooter". Where is the logic in that? Why doesn't your 20 game sample size apply to your own negative judgements?

There's a difference between something showing expected results and something showing unexpected results. He was never thought to be a good shooter, that BS started due to a hot streak in the G league. The talk about him was always that he was a streaky shooter. Thus far in the NBA, that seems to be the case. He's overall pretty terrible, but he can be streaky....you know, exactly what was said about him before his G league stint that had people lose their minds. Also, remember that we're talking about him shooting 30% from 3 during this "hot streak".....is that really evidence that he's magically become a great shooter?

He was also always known to be a terrible defender, that has proven true as well.

The bar for things continuing to be true is lower than for things changing, that's just how it is.

If you want me to believe that Brooks is all of a suddne a terrible 3 point shooter, I'm gonna need to see a decently large sample to be convinced since I know him to be a good 3 point shooter.

I didn't follow him in middle school and high school so I didn't know we "already knew he wasn't a good shooter" prior to the g league. Can't really say I agree with that but appreciate the context you've given me here, within that context, what you're saying does at least make sense.

I didn't personally follow him in high school, I just read what those who did said about him early in the process of him declaring that he was going to play in the G league. A lot of the talk was about how he relied on athleticism too much and that his shot was soft, but the results were inconsistent and that he needed to improve when it comes to shooting the 3.

Funny enough, some actually praised his defense, but I think a lot of that was due to his freak athleticism being enough at that level.

The talk was always about his potential as a 3 level scorer, and I'm not saying that he won't even be that, I just see a kid that is super raw and I think super raw players are inherently risky because some develop, some don't.

I think right now he's not a starting caliber player, but if he was coming off the bench and settling into a role where he's scoring in transition and continuing to work on that 3 ball, it's the most you can hope for right now.

He's got a lot to work on, but if the talk about his work ethic is accurate, he could still end up a quality starter before too long.

Clutchfans already don't like what we are seeing.

I do wish he didn't get injured, I wanted to see him with the new spacing. Our offense was a clusterf with the twin towers, it'd hard to evaluate. Now that we are generating a lot of clean offense, if he still doesn't perform well, there's no excuse

I am still very hopeful that Green will get better, he doesn't make too many dumb mistakes, if anything he has become much more choosy about when to attack and when to shoot

I don't think Green is an obvious bust, he is if he keeps up his play from the first 18 games of his career, but he's not like an Anthony Bennet or Hasheem Thabeet where it was obvious he would be terrible from day one.

Just add on some muscle, clean up his mechanics, and the defense should come with NBA experience.

Luck is part of winning. The Rockets would have a ring and not be rebuilding right now if we had a bit of it back in 2018.

Absolutley, luck is part of every sport. Players get injured, etc.

I was ardently pro Mobley leading up to the draft. I wish the Rockets would have selected him as I was very high on Christopher at their other picks as a guy who I thought would give you 90% of what Green would. C'est la vie the Rockets selected Green and so he's my guy. I always thought that Green profiled more as a Zach Lavine than a Kobe Bryant and, unfortunately, I may have been correct. But it is still early. Those who suggest a stint in the g league and then bringing Green off the bench, I think, have something there. He has seen the comp, got hit in the mouth and humbled, let him fight his way back with some success. Zach Lavine is certainly no slouch if that is what Green becomes. I think that is good enough to be the second best player on a contender.

To get there Green is going to have to work. Luckily he has that reputation as a gym rat. He will need it. I would like to see Green come back next season closer to 200 lbs with a re-worked jumper. Perhaps that guy is someone who can draw comparisons to generational players.

Straight from the Bob O’Brien playbook.
Working hard, getting better every day Brian.

“I’m making good progress day-by-day,” Green said. “I’m getting better every day, stronger every day. We don’t have an exact date (to return.) We’re just trying to make progress each day, get better every day.”

He can learn a lot by watching at this point. He needs to learn how to play in this system. He and KPJ together were like Theis and Wood, some players don't fit well at a certain time.

Once Green & Theis went out we went on a run, and continued it when KPJ went out.....playing TEAM ORIENTED ball.

Now, it really helps to have 3pt shooters like Gordon, Mathews and Brooks - to be shooting instead of Green and KPJ who both are still struggling with that shot.

It is a make or miss league.

Exactly, the lane becomes wide open when you have Brooks, EG and Matthews on the floor all shooting 40 percent from 3. It's really easy to get on a run when you have three shooters plus Wood or Sengun.

On the other end Gordo and Matthew have been huge pluses on defense as well, which Green is very much lacking.
