Our #2 draft pick "Jalen Green" seems to have a ceiling of . . .Gerald Green

I’ll wait to see how he looks in the new, massively improved rotation/offense. He was having his best quarter of the season in that first game of the streak.

 

What is it with drafting guards with super high picks that can't shoot?

Those look like the borked mechanics of a 5 year old who can hardly move the ball, and nobody's bothered to change them since.

 

Well shown @hakeem94 been saying his mechanics are awful all year - he is just not a good shooter.

If he doesn't fix that, he will never be a great player.

Compare his mechanics to Brooks or Mathews - they are much more solid.....you don't need to see it on Twitter, you can watch it live.

It's not Michael Kidd Gilchrist ugly but it's still not pretty.

Normally other teams have those, it is the first Rocket since Chuck Hayes.

It's not that he'll be a bust next year if he doesn't fix the issues, its that by not fixing the issues, it shows that Jalen is either too stubborn to fix what's broken, too stupid to see whats broken, or too lazy to care. It also shows that the rockets coaching staff, especially John Lucas III, never held him accountable and tried to fix his mechanics.

 

That is such a disgusting shooting stroke.

I'm so glad it is now garnering more attention.

Where's the debate on shot mechanics? A debate essentially requires two counter-points. There is no 'for' arguement on behalf of his shooting stroke.

80%, same as Russell Westbrook before he forgot how to shoot free throws around 2018.

High FT% and low 3pt% means that your problems are mostly below the waist or with timing.

 

I mean WB had 96 WS from his rookie season until 2017 so lets hope Jalen Green is that productive (minus the baffling decision making).

Jalen Green needs to practice and tweak his mechanics but he did shoot 36.5% on 5.7 3FGA in the G League, which is the NBA 3 pt line, along with 82% from FT.

FT doesn't count for **** - Calvin shot it underhanded. Unless we are going to let him shoot there unguarded his whole career.

The 3pt % is decent, but not elite, what you expect out of a number 2 pick is that they have a shot at being elite....

36% against 4th stringers is not really good.

I am not interested in the GLeague but I doubt they have B2Bs and tight schedule.

 

Nor players that play ANY defense.
