It really does not sound like there was an edict from Stone to force Silas to play 2 big lineup. Still defending usage and looking forward to using Theis with Wood/Sengun again. Rather he focus on figuring out Wood-Sengun instead.
Again, not that I disagree entirely with the 2 big premise but the more important point is that this does not sound like a coach who was forced to play Theis WITH Wood/Sengun. Sounds like a coach trying to justify HIS actions.
He did mention prior to benching Theis that it would be a game situational thing and this happened to be one of those instances. I always had a fear that Theis would make it back to the line up.
Over the past 7 games the rockets have a 118.6 offensive rating. The current league leader for this season is Utah at 116.9. The Stephen Silas offense is finally working!
I think you mean Sengun but basically trade the people who they planned on since the start of the seasons Wall Gordon House Theis Gordon being the only one that has any real potential to be traded. Theis will probably be traded in the off season. The Rockets will most likely just wait out Wall and House getting nothing in return but giving up nothing.
Really liked his decision to start Brooks instead of throwing Theis back out there in the starting lineup.
Say what you will, Silas has made some gutsy decisions lately. It was gutsy to bench our big FA acquisition. It was gutsy to start a guy called up from the G League in mid-November and gutsy to start Brooks. We’ll see if it continues, but this stretch has impressed me.
His system was never the problem - it was (playing Theis) still generating same shots .. but instead of Theis chunking bricks. ( Wood is shooting those shots) Mathews and Brooks are now taking the 3s - Green / Tate were taking with Theis on court oh and we are shooting FTs way better lol
Yea, made adjustments although late, props to 7 straight wins, he part of it as he was for the 15 losses... Team is making progress, could adjust his time outs a bit more, but it is going in right direction
I didn’t credit the coaching staff, we just have better FT shooters getting fouled … KPJ and Wood started off horrible… but Mathews 80+ Gordon 80+ Tate 75+ (outside of last night) are taking most of our foul shots now
