If Lebron had anyone other than Delladova the Cavs win. I mean he led both teams in every statistical category. Dude just had no help.
What have any of these guys proven to get the Max? Everyone gets maxes now a days. Why did the Rockets give him one then? Some team is always willing to pay it. MPJ just got the max. What did he do to deserve. It's all on potential..
At that time, didn't we have major salary cap flexibility? And didn't OKC already have big commitments to Durant, Westbrook, and Ibaka? You're comparing apples and oranges.
What do you mean? If those guys were on the Warriors Lacob would have had no issue giving Harden the Max on top of that. All I'm saying is owners matter. OKC didn't have a good one.
https://bleacherreport.com/articles...ract-forced-okc-thunder-to-trade-james-harden Just read that. The thunder tv contract was soo small they couldn't afford a 20 million dollar tax. Warriors are paying like 183 million in tax and don't blink and eye. This is why I'm saying situations matter. Small Market teams are always up against the competition. KD didn't really have a shot in OKC cuz the $$$ don't add up.
Yes, situations matter. The Warriors are paying luxury tax because of all the success Curry has had with them. They feel like they owe it to him. That's not comparable to OKC/Harden so there's no reason for you to consistently make that comparison.
What are you smoking dude. No one is going deep into the luxury tax like that I feel like you have no understanding of what actually occurred, you can't sign harden to go 50Mil into the luxury tax you have to let him walk and pay your other guys, stop believing everything you hear on ESPN. Just like you don't go 40 million in to luxury tax to resign Ariza and match his dumb 20 mil 1 year contract. Now that GSW has made hundreds of millions of dollars and they feel that they can win another chip they have some leeway in going over the luxury tax because they already made their money they have a dynasty, selling jerseys/tv deals/merchandise out the wazoo. I mean it's really not that complicated. The reason GSW was stacked is because their stud Curry did NOT get a max contract so they were free to spend that money elsewhere. After that they added Durant, he just climbed aboard like a loser without them having to give up any assets. Then when he left he did a sign and trade so comparable assets were given back to GSW and then they tanked and got super high picks, that is why they are the most stacked team in terms of players and assets in the league. Not because their owner is some dumb whale sinking luxury cap millions like he doesnt care
What's with all these threads devolving into one guy ranting about something no one cares about No one even cares enough to argue with you about this lol Sure GSW won because of "pure luck", Curry sucks, Warriors are only good cuz of their dumb money bags owner, OKC was dumb they should have gone 50 mil into the luxury tax resigning Harden like all the other smart owners do every year lol
Lol did you even see the article. OKC woulda been only like 20 million into the luxury tax putting their payroll at 108 million. If they traded Perkins they woulda barely been over. Hardens max was only 4/60 million. We aren't talking a super contract here. They offered him 50 already and let 10 million be the difference. Not sure where you are getting 50. You do know that the Warriors luxury tax bill is 183 million this year right?
A better comparison is Draymond. The Warriors gave him the max eventhough few thought he was worth it. They did it to keep the core in tact and keep stars happy. No one is saying Harden was amazing and the best player, but he was a crucial part of a team that made the finals. And OkC was just too broke to pay. If they team was in LA or NY or GS. Those owners woulda paid it without blinking and we could be taking about a different dynasty.
Jordan Poole didn’t come out of nowhere. He’s been balling and developed over the past couple years. Same with Lee. They still have their championship core (curry, green, Iggy, looney) with klay in the wings. Shooters (bejelica, poole, otto porter). Curry and Green elevates the play of these other players as well. Theyre a mix of youngsters, savvy vets, and champions. Quick, athletic, defense and shooting. Well rounded team.
No, that's the same bad comparison. The Warriors gave him the max AFTER they had won a title. Are you being intentionally obtuse? Why do you keep ignoring how poorly Harden played in the finals? Can you really blame OKC management for thinking that the gap between Harden and Kevin Martin in a 6th man role could be offset by higher usage for Durant/Westbrook? Keep in mind that the 2016 Thunder should've made the finals. They had a 3-1 lead against GSW in the WCF.
What do you mean? Why did the Rockets give up soo much to get him? Why did other teams want him if they thought he was no good? Like your argument makes no sense. No one around the league thought Harden wasn't worth it. Most people were shocked they traded him. He just won 6th man of the year and had elite on off splits and all time efficiency. I don't get what you are saying. They don't even make the finals without Harden. He carried them in parts of the spurs series. He had bad games in the finals, so does Curry, so does Draymond.. The max at the time was 4 years 60 million. That's hardly a lot. 15 million a year is nothing. Not like he's getting 45 million like today. Context matters. And Draymonds extension didn't kick in until last year. They did not win the championship the year before. And he had an all time terrible year. HEck he's even the reason KD left.
I guess you ARE being intentionally obtuse. We didn't give up much at all. Obviously it's because he's better than the incumbent player. Is he better than Kevin Martin? Yes? Then let's pursue him. Here's what you need to understand. Context matters. You can't look at gross dollars. Look at the dollars relative to the salary cap. Again, context matters. The Warriors won a title in the 2014-15 season. Draymond Green signed his extension in July 2015.
I did look at dollars relative to Salary Cap. They would have had to pay 28 Million in luxury tax if he signed the max. Only 10 million more than what they offered. THe warrrios are 183 million in luxury tax. We aren't even talking about team salary. This is just their tax bill. Their tax bill is higher than any other payroll. They are basically two or three teams of money. Draymond first extension wasn't a max. He took a cut to get KD. He signed his max that kicked in last year.
A quick google search or going over to sportrac would save you from spreading misinformation. And while your second post corrected your first, the last line is another example of being entirely wrong and misinformed.
Two different situations. I know he never took the max the first time, but they didn't have cap issues then either. He would not have settled for less than Max the second time. He felt they owed him. I don't even know what your point is. Are you trying to tell me its fair in OKC vs GS. With one team willing to pay 183 million in luxury tax while the other one refused to pay 25?
