If you're going to trade Wood, the Vucevic trade has to be your model. Vucevic and Al-Farouq Aminu were traded to the Bulls for Wendell Carter Jr., Otto Porter Jr. and two first-round picks.

The first of the two FRPs was the #8 overall pick last draft which they used on Franz Wagner. Knowing who they got, the Wagner, Carter Jr., And a 2023 FRP still to come is a great return.

If you're the Rockets, that means targeting teams that are struggling and hoping Wood doesn't turn their season around. The Knicks, Kings, Blazers, etc. Seem like possible targets then.

It's not just about the draft. Wood could be any number of the pieces in the original James Harden, the picks we got from Lowry trade or the Kevin Martin (vet with upside).

No player on this roster should be untouchable but let's weigh the costs with reason and most importantly a viable plan.

That Magic-Bulls trade is TBD because only the Bulls benefitted from it.

Magic went on fire sale, trading their most productive players for MORE picks and youth and are now playing out of their minds to stay out of the cellar of the NBA.

8th seed to worst team in blink of an eye.

    Houston can surely relate.

Let's not take lessons from a woefully run organization.

The viable plan is we have a two season window to rebuild through the draft before we give our own picks up to OKC starting with 2024 draft. Also the Roxs will potentially have a lot of cap space if we manage Wall's contract shrewdly. The 2023 season is when the Rockets have to flip the switch, but we could do next season for the right price.

One or both of EG and Wood need to be cashed in by the mid season deadline. I'm not opposed to waiting until the offseason to evaluate Wood, but not opposed to getting picks and a favorable contract.

I just don't find Simmons attractive anymore, but would rather eye Ayton, Bridges(es), Jalen Brown, Zion, etc. if we try and flip the switch for next season.

That's A plan, but is it STONE'S PLAN is the more important question.

Question is when to trade him

Do you do it now after six game winning streak? do you wait closer to the deadline when teams are more desperate but you risk injury of him? You keep him till next summer to try to make the playoffs?

I can't imagine what is going through Stones mind right now

Hmmm, I would rather keep Wood if that's the case. Ayton is also a very good role player, not a franchise player, so seems like a lateral move, although defense is very good. Jalen Brown, another one that seems like a lateral move, solid 2nd or 3rd option, but not a player that will be our franchise player.

Zion, well if he can't keep it together weight wise in NO, what makes us think we can keep from eating himself out of the league here in Houston, home of amazing cuisines.

We know Simmons isn't in the Rockets plan. I think if you go by Tilman's word (the person who really matters) is that he isn't ready to flip the switch yet, which gives the 2 year rebuild plan a bit of credence.

I think fans have subconscious fear of thinking of people as stocks or assets so even though your idea is perfectly on point and I totally agree with it, but other fans besides you and me get too emotionally involved with the players and don't want to trade them

This is a Cutthroat business if you think about it and honestly it is the teams that get too emotionally involved with players that overpay and get stuck with albatross contracts

question is do you trade him today do you trade him at the deadline or do you wait till next summer that is the question

Looks like him and Alp don't have good chemistry together when they are on the court the same time so one of them has to go

Just examples of some of the guys that are available or potentially if we were going to start competing for 2022.

I agree, it appears that Simmons is not in the plans.

But that wasn't always the case, and we've seen this FO pivot quite often in last 2 seasons.

Stone is not Morey, he either is unwilling or unable to articulate his basic rebuild goals.

Not holding my breath that he will share his strategy to accomplish those goals.

    There’s legit contention.
There is the purgatory of 14-17 level picks.
There is the future with talent assembling.

So just get additional draft picks which the Rockets already have?

At what point will you want the Rockets to progress and get better?
